I visited the Agra Fort in February 2017. The fort has amazing architecture. The grounds and gardens are also very nice. There were a few monkeys in one section. You also get a sweeping view of Agra, the countryside and the Taj. This is a great place to visit for a few hours, you will definitely enjoy if you like... More

Amazing history - do go with a knowledgeable guide who can explain the history of this incredible place. It was more than we had expected.

This was part of a tour stop itinerary and I visited with a guide. Very impressive site. As another reviewer noted it blurs the line between fort and palace. Mostly a royal home but still a formidable and defendable fort. The history is tied to the Taj Mahal and viewing the Taj from the luxurious 'prison' suite of the deposed... More

We had hoped by the time we got here the fog would have lifted some more so the view across the river to the Taj sould be good. In reality the fog had got thicker and you couldn't see it all. The fort has some really interesting architecture and the ladies rooms are lovely.

Very cool. Note the ramp to get to the doors and that there are three doors, each that faces another direction so that anyone trying to invade would be trapped and killed before they could get in. They used to pour oil down the ramp so elephants and humans could not walk up as well. Incredible inlay work on the... More

It is an impressive place, with enormous walls and turrets. It is special as it has the sentimental views of the Taj. It is far more impressive than the Red Fort in Delhl.

The Fort is a perfect way to prepare for a visit to the Taj Mahal. The story is of course closely linked and the wonderful Taj sits enticingly across the river, misty in the distance and full of allure. The architecture is similar and the stonework , carvings, inlays and gardens are all connected. We particularly like the large numbers... More

A mixture of marble and sandstone this fort is well worth a look. Has plenty of history and a true feat of workmanship.

I'm not sure why these grand palaces are referred to as "Forts" although they certainly served that pupsose as well. This Fort was elaborate and allowed the Mughul emperor to watch the construction of the Taj Mahal in the distance on the banks of the river. Agra was a centre of that empire for many years and this was where... More
