This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. We went in through the north gate. It is 100 ft high and the white marble is inlaid with jewels to make the designs. The marble arch is an optical illusion when you walk towards the Taj it looks farther when you back up it looks closer. At the bottom of the stairs when you enter the north gate is a fabulous photo op with the water and Taj Mahal. You can not do yoga poses it’s against the law and the men with guns will take your phone and delete them. Be respectful. To the left of the Taj Mahal is the masque take your shoes off to enter. There in an arch that you can take a great side photo of the Taj Mahal from. If you see a puddle of water it is there to take a reflection picture with! There is a man with shoe coverings if you are going to go into the Taj Mahal i tipped $1. Also a bathroom before you enter the TajMahal i also tipped $1 to get toilet paper. When you enter into the Taj Mahal remember it is a mausoleum built in 1632-1648 by the order of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife and their tombs are in there. No pictures are allowed out of respect. I stayed in New Delhi and did a one day tour with Indo Canadian Tours-Subjash. I had a private tour guide Vinnie who knows the history so well and knows all the best places for pictures and is a fabulous photographer. I had a private car and driver Manoj. I arranged it all via WhatsApp. There are monkeys and beautiful green parrots around the area. Have $1 bills with you for tuktuks, shoe cover, toilet paper, other tips. There are people there who will take 35mm pictures for you 10 for $20. I did it because I feel they need to make a living and they are Only with you for the first 15 minutes of the tour. This is a must do bucket lister and probably one of my favorite bucket listers behind the Great Wall and the Egypt pyramids.

It's worth seeing in person, as I have taught about this mausoleum for years. Take time to walk around the gardens and fountains, looking at the Taj Mahal from different angles. The line is worth it to enter inside and moves fluidly. A guide is helpful with detailed bits about the construction and history, but there are some placards around to assist. Buy the foreigner entry ticket if from outside India for a much faster entrance. Mornings are beautiful, but evenings are just as spectacular.

The major attraction of Agra can be approached from three directions as my hotel was near the east gate went through the east gate The monument is open to tourist from half an hour before sunrise to half and hour before sunset on all days except Fridays and certain holidays .The entry ticket is Rs 50 per head if you wish to see the monument from outside and another Rs 200 if you wish to go inside the monument where the tombs are there. There are ticket counters but it is advisable to book on line for convenience and there is a 10 percent discount online .

From the east gate parking a golf car charging Rs 20 per head takes you close to the east gate .If you are interested in the history guides are available near the parking and also near the monuments who not only tell you about the monument but also click your pics

Sharing few pics of the monument

Went to witness this beauty (literally the most beautiful structure made by humans that I have personally seen). Was mesmerized by the first sight of it. Everyone must go and see it at least once in their lifetime.

Tip: We bought online tickets before reaching there to save time. We also bought the tickets to the main mausoleum (which is additional INR 200 for Indians apart from the INR 45 ticket), which lets you visit inside of the Taj Mahal. If someone really wishes to enter it, then it's fine, but also it's totally fine to miss it as there are just the 2 graves inside and nothing else. Basically you just take a small round and come out from the other door in 30 seconds. But you do get to see and feel (touch) the Taj Mahal real close.
We were told that on specific dates, every year in March (not sure of the exact dates), people are allowed to visit the Taj for free.

The symbol of love...Taj Mahal built by shahjahan for Mumtaz.

It's an architectural marvel. Had it been in a shape it was built ... It would have been jaw-dropping experience. In current situation the royalty got lost as lot of expensive things used to decorate it is not there.

It's a one time visit place now.

The “Taj Mahal” is indeed as beautiful as we read! Perhaps more so in person!

What a tribute from Emperor Shah Jahan to his favourite wife Mumtaz!
(On a light note: my wife asked me if I would have ever built something like this in her memory! I refrained from answering...)!!

Amazing workmanship on the marble and the history, heart tugging!
A Fantastic tour. Cannot wait to visit other parts of this AMAZING country!
