visited this place on 28th june 2016. monsoon gives ooty a separate charm in itself. must visit during the monsoons. the avalanche is located at a distance of 27 kms from the main city of ooty. this place is not much popular with the tourists. so it is less crowdy and the ticket centre is neatly maintained. in the last... The place works best if you know someone in Govt. Else getting a ticket into this place is a hit \ miss.

Avalanche is about 27 kms from Ooty, accessible by Car and bike as well. You will find a checkpost 3 kms prior where you will have to register your vehicle's details. Once you reach the spot you can hire a Jeep or take the bus both of which are operated by the Tamil Nadu forest department. It's a two hours... More

Nice Place to visit. This is really a mesmerizing place strictly for nature lovers. Lots of scenic spots for photographers. Reaching the place takes nearly 40 minutes by govt.zeep with forest department permission.

This is really an amazing place for nature lovers. With the serene valley and lake middling between them these are treat for the cameras.

Visited the location in late January... 45 mt-1hr drive from Ooty....last 3-4 km stretch of road to the forest gate/ticket counter is really bad...a 2 hr conducted bus/Jeep tour in the area...show 4-5 sightseeing feature's to include shola grasslands, bhavani temple n stream n bhavani sagar lake...at this point of the year the grasslands had dried up with limited water... More

Its through a bumpy, and badly maintained road that one ventures into the avalanche. its a big hype where there is a throng of tourists, badly organised Govt. booking office, and your jeep may come after a wait of 2 hours. With NO food or drinks of repute available the visit is NOT worth it.And its quite pricy too. besides,... More
