A railway route recognized by UNESCO as world heritage site. A must see. Generally people take a ride from ooty to Conoor or otherwise. 130 seats to offer per ride in second class compartment on a first come first serve basis. First class compartments are pre booked online. Nice picturesque valley to view.

I would first want to explain how the ticketing system works and then comment on the ride. The counters for a particular departure open at a specific time. For example, they will start selling... More

Should be on anyone's to do list during a visit to Ooty. Tickets during peak season (read summer vacations in India) are difficult, advance booking can be done via internet, even otherwise, taking the trouble to stand in queue early morning is worth it. Plan to take the train from Ooty to coonoor, visit coonoor and return via a taxi... More

Nice experience but plan in advance. Wish tickets could be booked online in 'New Digital India'. Can get tickets at the window only 30 Minutes to 1 hour before journey. Packed second class so prefer going first class if possible. Although the boarding was very organized even for unreserved coaches. Very well maintained stations. Kids will enjoy the experience

What a wonderful way to tour up into the mountains in this wonderful old train. Excellent views, not the most comfortable seats.

This is a must do if you love beautiful scenery. The train takes an hour to reach Connor from Ooty. For tickets you have to pre book specially the first class. For the second class you can catch hold of some travel agents/desk at the hotel and they have contacts to get you tickets. The queue is well managed by... More
