- Teertha GKolkata (Calcutta), India763 contributionsVery well maintained garden and some nice fountainsNice garden to visit when you are in Udaipur. It is not a must do place but if one wants to go away from other over crowded tourist spots then this should be considered. Just a short drive away from City Palace, ticket prices are reasonable for Indians, only INR 20. The garden is well maintained and although not big, it is possible to spend an hour here enjoying the mostly tranquil surroundings. The fountains are okay but nothing spectacular. Originally built by a Maharaja for his Queens, it is still attracting locals along with tourists. Just remember it closes by 5 pm.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 December 2023
- Swapnil WPune, India43 contributionsGoodGreensGardens are very well maintained and it's worth relaxing here for some time if you are not in a hurry. For people who want to get clicked in traditional Rajashtnai dress, this place is a good option. Central fountain area is not well maintained and the entire charm of visiting this beautiful garden goes for a toss when you see that. Just wonder why the local authorities don't beautify this part of the garden !!Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 December 2023
- SahilChrunguNew Delhi, India1,863 contributionsLovely Garden with refreshing FountainsA popular garden in Udaipur, Saheliyon ki Bari, is known for its stunning fountains and lush green lawns. Located on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, this large garden was built in the 18th century by king Sangram Singh for the royal women of the palace. Legend says that it was designed by the king himself for his queen and the garden was often visited by the queen along with her friends and maids. And hence, its name refers to saheliyon (friends). The garden has a spectacular pavilion of rain fountains and elephant-shaped fountains in white marble that were imported from England. The main reservoir has four black marbled stands in the corners and one white marbled kiosk at the centre. The garden also houses a museum that displays a huge collection of royal household items. You can also experience the Culture of Rajasthan wearing traditional clothes and getting clicked. We got a couple of pictures clicked for our Kids and cost around Rs.300/- Rating it 4 as they really need to improve their Washrooms as its quite smelly and untidy with no arrangements for Soaps.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 December 2023
- SandyWestBengaluru, India386 contributionsA Much Cherished Lung Space in the City!Said to be an exclusive place built for the Royalty in the yesteryears, this well designed garden is a welcoming and relaxing place for locals and tourists alike. Very popular among the visitors, the garden is an epicenter of photo shoots. Good for a couple of hours.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 January 2024
- FHTR In RajasthanJaipur, India263 contributionsSecret garden of Udaipur - Sahelion Ki BariSahelion Ki Bari, a secret garden built just for relaxation, way back in the 1700s. It's near a pretty lake, and the whole place is filled with beautiful flowers, soft grass, and sparkling fountains. There are even cool elephant and lion statues carved from marble! But the most incredible thing is the fountains - almost 2,000 of them, all working without any pumps! They must create the most relaxing water sounds, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of the palace.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 April 2024

Saheliyon ki bari is a fountain garden in Udaipur, which was built during the reign of Rana Sangram Singh. The main attraction of the place is beautiful architecture and fountains which are more than 400 year old. These fountains work on hydraulic pressure, and rely on water from the banks of fateh sagar lake. None of these fountains use any form of electrical energy to pump water.
The garden is mainly divided into five parts. Each area has a unique theme to it, based on weather in different parts of the year. The sound of water from each of the fountains is per the theme of the garden.
It is a worth visiting place, however, along with a knowledgeable guide who can explain the entire architecture alongwith the theme. The garden is open from 9 am to 7 pm. Would recommend a visit in the evening.

Was apprehensive on visiting this garden but happy that I went there! Entry ticket is 20 rupees per person, you need to park your car on the parking area opposite to the garden. The garden is lovely with water fountains and Rajasthani architecture. There is an area called ‘saavan bhado’ with rain showers meant to get wet, one ‘raas leela’ garden with a variety of flowers and a central lotus pond named ‘kamal talai’ wherein you need to clap for the water sprinklers to start. Overall a lovely experience. Evening and weekends are more crowded so choose your time of visit wisely if you want to click pictures leisurely. Duration of stay around 30 minutes.
The only thing that the government can do is get the walls of the structures painted and set up some souvenir shops in the empty premises.

It’s a beautiful small park in the middle of town with a variety of fountains. Most of them still functioning. As the legend goes it was made by then king for her daughter who liked rains. It also has beautifully landscaped gardens and a variety of plantations. Though it’s small taking a guide adds to the historical touch and costs about Rs. 60. Worth it
Places around has good restaurants so you can plan it around the lunch. Not much stairs, so elderly and kids friendly.

A must visit in Udaipur!! This is Paradise for nature and plant lovers. Beautiful fountains surrounded by very beautiful and perfectly manicured trees and plants. Hire a guide and you will hear tales of the city and garden. A special shoutout to our guide - a 75 year old man working here for last 45 years is best guide cum photographer. He made us laugh with his witty jokes and also gave some insightful facts of the place. Sharing some amazing pictures clicked by him and his picture too - forgot his name :(
PS: Due to current covid scenario thr is no rush during the day time and weekdays so plan accordingly.

It is a nice little park, with some very interesting corners, some areas to relax, a couple of fountains and some interesting fauna and flora. Nothing too exciting in terms of botanical gardens and a bit under maintained but still it makes for relaxing and cosy one for distraction from the sensory overload that the outside can be.
A lot of sun so protect yourself and avoid the vendors but apart form this, simply enjoy the beauty.

A must visit place . It is intresting place .. as the fountains in this premises are based on the gravity only , not on a elctricity nor on any motor. The fountains are different and their voice resembles the heavy rain and slow rain that remember one the monsoon season . I also advise to take a guide there .

This was a Very pretty and well maintained garden area. While the main fountain is very nice, the best pictures are found in the rest of the garden. It was not crowded even on Saturday in January so we had an easy time taking our desired pictures. We had a guide who provided some information but this is one activity in which a guide isn’t necessary.

A garden with fountains, lotus ponds and greenery. Despite having a strong history behind the place, it has not been kept too well and looks like any other Govt place.
While roaming around in the park I touched the spring/fountain water and within 10 minutes, I got a really BAD allergy in my hands. They were red, burning, itchy and swollen. Instead of going to the next sightseeing place, we had to rush to the medical store then went to the mall(because our hotel was far), washed hands with soap and clean water, applied ointment and in 2-3 hours it subsided.
Be cautious guys, don’t know where the water is coming from and how clean it is.

Reasonably well maintained even after 400 years! The fountains are still working and give us a feel for what it must’ve been like for the Queen and her lady friends to spend the time together in the privacy. The pools look well maintained. If you want to make the best use of your time, please hire a tour guide. Our guide, , did a great job by connecting historical facts to specific location in the garden and the plants. The bougainvillea in the main pool was beautiful. Apparently, it was presented by the King of Argentina and is thriving even after all these years! Some sections of the garden need a bit more maintenance to make the whole place a lot more greener
