Tanot Mata Temple is situated at around 120 km away from Jaisalmer city. It is situated close to Indo Pak border and the battle site of Longewala. It is around 2 hours drive from Jaisalmer city. The road to Tanot Mata Temple is surrounded with sand dunes. On the way, one can see large number of wind-based renewable energy projects. We visited in the Oct’23, the temperature was hot. When we visited in the morning, the temple was closed and hence first visited the Indo Pak Border. One photo Id was submitted at the counter for getting permission to visit the border. From the watch tower at the border, one can see the fencing of the border, barren lands in both the sides. Afterwards we visited the temple, when it was open for devotees. Tanat Mata is the reigning deity; general belief is that Tanat Mata saves the border from the enemies. The puja was performed at the temple and several devotees around the Country were present and offering puja and darshan. Besides that, the temple also displays unexplored bombs / cells, which were used by enemy army during war. However, the bombs were either missed their target or did not explode. Currently, the temple is managed and maintained by BSF. It was a great experience to see the temple and border.

Very good temple. Last religious place on India border. Entire temple is managed by BSF . We had very good Darshan due to special efforts taken by BSF. One day trip from Jaiselmer Tanot - Border- longewala . Must visit if visiting Jaisalmer.

The energy at Tanot mata mandir cannot be explained. You should attend the 6 am or 6 pm Aarti done by BSF staff.

Having heard a lot about the sanctity and miracles about the temple, we were very keen on visiting it.
Located around 120 kms from Jaisalmer, the temple can be visited along with Longewala and makes for a one-day trip from Jaisalmer. The main attractions here are the temple itself which was heavily bombarded by the enemy forces during the 1971 war but could not cause even scratch of damage.
The temple still houses the bombs fired by Pakistani forces but none of it got activated due to miracles and beliefs of the forces. The campus and pooja at the temple are still managed by BSF. You would hardly find anything to eat or drink on the route, so please ensure you carry along some packed foods.
One can also get a permit for border visit from here. You need an original ID proof for all visitors and your own car to visit the border which is 15 kms form here. The visit to the border is enthralling and there is watch tower which gives a detailed view of the enemy check post. The BSF members on the border were co-operative and explained the entire process and answered all queries in detail. The place surely gave goosebumps.

A beautiful temple with a great history of battle with Pakistan. It is said that tanot mata protects the people of india during the battle and take over the bombs in her hand and defuses those bombs and protects our soldiers.... The surroundings of the temple were so beautiful... Must visit place when you planned for jaisalmer.... The evening aarti was amazing here and also try to plan it in navrata... The vibes are different at that time.. You will have a great time here... ☺

The mandir is very well maintained by BSF and also unique with shells from the opposite side which didn’t blast as it dropped on the mandir. The roads are excellent and the drive from Jaiselmer to tanot mata is unbelievably smooth and beautiful through deserts.
