About
My name is Raj, and I was born and raised with camels in the Indian Thar desert, where I still live today. I recently started my own business because I want to share this unique piece of nature with visitors. “Raj is the perfect camel guide: he has life long experience in the desert, is professional and has a friendly attitude. Me and my family discovered the beauty of the deep Thar desert. We became friends with Raj and his lovely camels. They will be in our memory forever." (Olivier Coops)

This is the most adventurouse and authentic tour you can do. Raj is a fantastic guide with a lot of interesting stories to tell while sitting together at the fireplace. He really cares about the environment, keeping the desert clean. We had a great time.
Highly recommended!

I was a little apprehensive getting on the camel and positively petrified when the camel was getting up. However Raj and Ali explained what to do clearly and voila! They made us (two ladies, 60+) feel very comfortable and safe. Right there in the heart of the desert. I enjoyed the 10 or so km on the camel. We saw birds and some gazelles. I was very exited about that. As we watched the dessert sun setting Raj and Ali spontaneoudly sang us a beautiful haunting song. These are such nice people, they love their camels, know the area very well and they shared their knowledge with us. If I have the opportunity to do so I will certainly do it again, next time overnight!
It was a very authentic experience and I can highly recommend going with Raj and Ali

My friend and I did a 3 day tour with Raj and it was PHENOMENAL! He was so attentive, fun, sang and danced, made us beautiful chai and we sat up all night as he told us hundreds of stories. We slept under the stars and woke up to the sun rising beside a warm fire. Raj made my entire India trip and I would re-do this tour any day! As 2 young female travellers, we felt completely safe and comfortable. Thankyou Raj!!

Where to start? This experience was truly life-changing. From the moment we left Jaisalmer, I felt that we were in the right hands. Raj and his team are a fun bunch of guys, and you can tell that they know their way around the desert. First off, the camel ride in was pleasant and you can tell that the animals are truly loved. We saw the sunset and had a delicious dinner (cooked by them in Rajasthani style on an open fire). Then they started a bonfire, which they made even better by driving into town for some drinks and then singing traditional songs. When time came to sleep, first we watched the sky for another half hour because it's just incredible out there in the middle of nowhere. The cots were comfortable and had warm blankets. We chose to wake up for sunrise, and when we came back a sturdy breakfast and some chai were waiting for us. The ride out was just as pleasant as the way in. Glorious experience, and I cannot recommend it too strongly!

Choose Raj and you won't be dissappointed.

When my family and I arrived in Jaisalmer we knew we wanted to go on an overnight camel safari but were a bit intimidated by all the options. Thank goodness we found Raj the Camel Man (self titled). I gained a bunch of hilarious and memorable experiences during the overnight trip:
- Raj lifting two sticks and yelling "woah woah!" while jumping up and down behind the last camel in line, and the camel ignoring him.
- He and his assistant making a camp appear almost out of thin air! Within 45 minutes they had the camels unsaddled, beds erected, and a merry fire going under a cooking pot.
- The dinner... the dinner was absolutely delicious. I got seconds of everything, especially the chilli.
- The traditional songs sung around the camp fire.
- Raj telling a number of unforgettable stories that he titled "nightmare tourist adventures".
- Raj hugging and giving a huge kiss to Gama, the tallest and most stately of the camels.
- My camel, Al Pacino, rushing ahead of everyone else and Raj helping me getting Al Pacino to gallop.

Raj obviously loves the camels. He also is utterly comfortable with all kinds of foreigners, having been raised with them since the age of 8 when he started working with his father (also a camel tour guide). His combination of charm and competence went a long way for us having a fantastic memory of our time in Rajasthan.

Thank you, Raj!

I was somewhat reluctant at first about this - I thought I might fall off the camel, but nothing like that happened. Our guides Raj and Ali made me and my sister feel very safe, and we enjoyed this safari over the dunes tremendously. Also saw some antelopes a few times - a real bonus. And then watched the sun setting over the desert. Raj and Ali both were such nice people, they know this area very well and shared interesting facts (and sometimes amusing) anecdotes with us. This safari was definitely a big highlight of our trip. Will certainly do it again! We brought back real feel-good memories. Thank you, Raj and Ali.

Had a bloody good time with this bloke and a few friendly camels! Best guide he has so much knowledge and experience with his craft. Makes a mean meal too, ate like the Prime Minister!

Couldn't meet a nicer person to spend a magical night in the desert with. You definitely won't regret going for a camel journey with Raj!
