Beautiful buildings albeit only possible to see from the outside. There are also many more if you walk around the older part of Bikaner, in varying states of repair. It's a shame that it's not possible to see inside but a visit to the Hotel Bhanwar Niwas eg for lunch gives a good insight.

The Rampuria Havelis in Bikaner isn't just one haveli, but a whole cluster built by a wealthy merchant family centuries ago. Imagine a maze of nine grand mansions made from beautiful red sandstone. Every corner boasts intricate carvings, stunning jharokha windows (with balconies), and delicate latticework.

The architecture is a fascinating mix of Rajput and European styles, reflecting the haveli's rich history. It's like stepping back in time and getting a glimpse into the lives of Bikaner's wealthy merchants.

This is a cluster of closed monuments used as Havelis during the era.
The architectural marvel buildings are protected by ASI and you can only enjoy the art from outside.

Located in a nondescript nook & corner of the city, Rampuria Havelis, comprising 3 buildings adjacent to one another, are fine examples of the excellent architecture of yesteryears in Bikaner.

Amazing example of Rajasthani architecture, tucked away in the narrow lanes of Bikaner city.

Unfortunate that the Havelis are not open for visits nor being used as a museum, Cafe' or even a heritage hotel.

Rampuriya Haveli is the name of one of the many havelis in Bikaner. This place will leave you mesmerised. There are a series of havelis on the street and they give a tough competition to each other. The havelis are to be seen from outside and there is no access to the public inside.

I started by visiting the gorgeous Bhanwar Niwas hotel, a Rampuria kotri from the 1920s and preserved in excellent condition containing a 120 year old Jain temple that is older than the rest of the structure and the most delicious food in both the courtyard and dining hall before venturing to explore the other havelis. I was lucky enough to be introduced to a family visiting one of the older havelis over their winter break and they showed me the magnificent courtyard, all the rooms with colourful Belgian lights, European tiles, intricately painted walls, beautiful old furniture and discussed how they work on preservation at each visit. Visiting the Rampuria havelis is a must if in Bikaner!
