Tal Chhapar is a beautiful grassland sanctuary, under the able administration of the IFS officer Mr. Surat Singh Poonia (2017). The place is a must for bird watches to see the specialties of grasslands such as chats, bee-eaters, Cranes, raptors (specially Harriers), Vultures and ducks in small ponds inside the grassland. The grassland is very well protected and safari paths... More

I started my 13 day adventure of birding in India at Tal Chhapar and it was a great place to jump start my trip. We saw many new birds and mammals as well. Spent the first evening here and most of the next day before heading out to my next birding spot.

As one boards the train to Tal Chappar from a quiet railway station in Delhi Cantt , one is quite oblivious to the small journeys you encounter on your way . A 6-7 hour journey lands you in one of the smallest railway stations which you can ever see.A short drive takes you to the government guest house which is... More

Place the stunningly beautiful, amazing -especially for photography lovers. Actually this is a place only for real bird lovers & avid photographers. Place is like a small village with hardly any good facility. Except the guest house from Rajasthan Forest Dept. Guesthouse looks nice, decently maintained, clean, peaceful and courteous staff. Little expensive though. No TV in rooms, no telephone with... More

A tiny sanctuary but in terms of sightings of rare birds probably the best place in this part of India. Great place to see raptors during migration and a host of passerines and waders in winter
