Came here at about 3pm on a Sunday but unfortunately the temple was closed. There were no signs about opening times and people walking past weren't that helpful. Looks like quite a peaceful location but I'll have to try another visit next time I'm in Pune.

I don't know why temples have such a calmness in them, This temple is beautifully built located in middle of the Pune city.
As soon as you enter here your mind instantly go for peace, the caves are silent, if you make a little sound it will echo.
I love the place and will go here again.

This temple is one of the oldest temples in Pune. Anyone with a need of some peaceful time can visit this place and spend hours just relaxing. It is right on the main road which is named after this temple only known as 'Jangali Maharaj Road'.
Cheers,

How to Reach: We reached by two wheeler. It took a 25 min ride from Kothrud Depot @ 8.4 Km.
Site Review : The Jangali Maharaj Temple is one of the sacred place in Pune located on Jangali Maharaj Road , which is centrally situated at Shivaji Nagar. It is built in typical 18/19th century marathi temple style, complete with wooden construction and a tiled roof .
Historical Information: Jangali Maharaj (1806 - 1890), also known as Sadguru Jangali Maharaj or Guru Maharaj, was a Maharashtrian saint who lived in Pune, India, in the late 19th Century. "Jungle" (Jangali) "King" (Maharaj) is an eponym of Shiva.
Jangali Maharaj was a ascetic yogi belonging to the nineteenth century. He was a disciple of Swami Samarth of Akkalkot. In his youth he was said to be a towering person over seven feet tall and a wrestlers build to match. He was a hath yogi who had acquired his yogic capabilities after severe penances.
He was said to have meditated in the Bhamburde jungles of Shivajinagar, Pune which earned him the sobriquet Jangali Maharaj or King of the Jungle. After he breathed his last in 1890, his disciples built a samadhi at Shiavajinagar, next to the ancient Pataleshwar cave temple.
Additional Observation: As I entered the temple, on my right hand side there was a small man made Pond with cow spout. The wall contains beautiful Picture of Men carrying Palaki.
Localities & Food : A major commercial road in Pune (Jangali Maharaj Road) is named after him.

Last Sunday I have visited this place. The famous road in Pune is named after Junglee Maharaj. People know very little about this place and saint. This temple is dedicated to Junglee Maharaj who lived here in the late 19th century. It is believed that he came from Baroda and lived in Pune. Temple is a very peaceful place in Pune city.

This is memorial of Jangali Maharaj, a saint. It is adjacent to the Pataleshwar cave temple and there is an entrance connecting both of them.
