Ellora caves are just awesome. the main cave in which Kailash Mandir is there also. The architecture is mind blowing. it will take at least one complete day to understand and see all the caves. I personally liked it and recommend.

We visited by car/driver arranged by our hotel($25-pickup at 11:30AM, arrival at caves by 1PM, then airport drop at 5:30PM). The highway is newly paved but the traffic is the normal horrible; bikes and tuk tuks. From the road, we walked 150m to the entrance($8-foreignor), then the feature Cave #16 (Kailasha temple) is 100m directly in front. After 30 minute... More

After 3 months touring all around India, this was by far, the most mind blowing place I have ever visited, I spent several hours exploring the complex, easy access from hotel, mine had a tour agent outside.. AC taxi! If you visit India, this is a MUST visit, this place can get hot, be sure to have a bottle of... More

To think that Cave 16 at this site was carved from the top down gives you an idea of how incredible an architectural feat these caves are. Beautiful images and spaces. Absolutely one of the best sites we visited in India.

This place is an excellent example of how religions co-existed since centuries in India. Makes one feel proud of our heritage. Caves divided into 3 sections - Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves. Sadly could not cover the Jain caves as we ran out time and sunlight....Plan to go back again in near future.

If you are in dilemma whether to choose Ajanta or Ellora (if you plan to visit just either of the one) then I recommend Ellora. Especially don't miss Cave#16 which is right at the entrance in case you wish to skip other caves. In contrast to Ajanta this will be less tiring and can finish fast. Here too you need... More

For those who have visited Ajanta I would suggest you start with cave 16. The caves 1 through 15 showcase the Buddhism monarchy, after that it's Hinduism and Jainism artifacts. The cave 16 is the center piece carved into the mountain. Take the bus from the MTDC parking and start from Cave 32 and down to 16. For couples with... More

See review of Ajanta caves. Ellora is the next phase of architectural and religious progression in India. A MUST SEE for any travellers to India. A bit remote but well worth takhg the flight to see them

The caves depict the propagation of Budhist, Hindu and Jain religion at the same location. The Hindu religion cave KAILASH is incredible. The details , the planning and the execution is fantastic. One really wonders at the knowledge and skill available many centuries back. Must visit for lovers of history.
