Beautiful building with a peaceful atmosphere

As part of our tour of Khajuraho Temples, we visited the Jain Temples. They are really beautiful buildings with a wonderful sense of peace. Well worth a detour.

The Jain Temple and Museum is worth a visit . The carvings seem to be repeated often but I guess if you look closely at them there are some differences. The carvings of people are interspersed with those of elephants and horse like creatures. It does not take long to tour this place but I think it is worth a... More

If you go here after the western temples of Khajuraho you are likely to be disappointed, so go here first. It is worth seeing, especially if you have traveled as long as most people do to get to this location.

If you are messed for time in Khajuraho, skip the Jain temple complex in favour of spending more time at the main Hindu Temple complex.

The museum is an eye opener with regard to rich Jain History and Tirthankaras statues. One is left wondering why this religion is still unknown to many people, thoiugh its roots in India is more then 5000 years old.

This is interesting if you know something about the Jain religion. The old temples have been partially covered by new Jain additions still it is ok for a short visit.

The jain museum is situated close to the jain temples of the eastern group of temples. It contains statues and sculptures ,which were once a part of the jain temples. There are some statues of the thirthankaras Yakshis, Jain Dipakalas. No proper information provided except the names. It would take a max of 15 - 20 minutes to cover this.

The museum is located just outside the Jain temples area and is worth visiting to see the many fine pieces of carvings that have been recovered fro the ruins of jain temples in the area. Nice display.
