The Backwaters of Kerala is unique and is found nowhere else in the world. Backwaters are a network of lakes, canals and estuaries and deltas of forty-four rivers that drain into the Arabian Sea. The backwaters of Kerala are a self supporting eco-system teeming with life. The most exciting aspect of Kuttanadu is the Kettuvallam (traditional Houseboat) which has become the most popular tourism product in India today.

Just spent two weeks in Kerala. Kence organised everything superbly: homestays, hotels, houseboat, transport. The houseboat experience was great, expensive, but worth the cost. Not for impatient travellers as you spend the whole day travelling slowly round the Backwaters. Kerala is a nature sort of visit. Not for those whose main interest is cultura and temples.

I was very hesitant to book two days and nights on the water in a houseboat after reading reviews of the experience (from other companies). However, ecotrails does it right. We spent two days and nights in splendor. The meals were AMAZING and the boat ride was a joy. It was very relaxing and the staff was great. I've eaten... More

My husband and I visited Kerala in December 2011 and found Eco Tours while researching travel options on the internet. I liked the website as it looked professional, good pictures and quoted prices in Euros so I had a quicker understanding of the cost. We chose a 2 night houseboat tour from Kumarakom, via Allepey and back to Kumarakom and... More

I booked Kence of Eco Tours, kerala based on Internet recommendations and had a marvellous time. We went on a houseboat tour, then to Thekkady and Vembanad. Kence was very accomodating as was his driver, Satish T T. The houseboat trip was relaxing and as the boat cruised the lake, we saw lots of birdlife as well as the local... More

The boat trip was fantastic. We were watching the fantastic scenery of palmtrees, birds, fishermen, other boats while passing the small villages along the shores. The crew was very friendly, doing their outmost for a pleasant stay. They even stopped. For a while for us to enjoy the sunset. The food was really great! Everything as regards time schedule and... Really a must when you stay in Kerala. Gives you the opportunity to relax totally and enjoy the piece and quiet of the beautiful backwaters. You'll have a great cook and a captain to be able to fully enjoy your trip. You can ask them to help you fishing or go to a local market in order to pay some... More

We had the most wonderful and memorable 24 hours; the boat was comfortable, the staff were lovely, the food excellent and the scenery out of this world. The pre-booked taxi arrived on time and the whole experience was just amazing. We would have loved a longer trip. Do take good mosquito repellant!!

We trusted the internet recommendations and just booked it, without exactly knowing what may happen - and it was an absolute dream! Kence Georgey gave us a perfect boat with a perfect crew, and we had a trip which could never have been better. A perfectly maintained and very clean boat, a very kind and professional crew, a five star... More
