Idukki Dam is one of the highest arch dams in Asia., constructed across Periyar River between two mountains ( Kuravanmala and Kuravathimala ). The idea of constructing this dam at Idukki is for Hydraulic Power Generation.

Last month I visited idukki dam I feel the location and dam structure is very nice compare to other dams this is arch based other everyone is straight and normal. Only problem is some particular days visitors is allowed otherwise every thing is superb.

This dam is constructed between two hills - full credit goes to architects who designed and executed in a smooth way. Had a walk over the dam and witness the beauty of the reservoir and nature - mesmerising. No photo sessions.
