Neighbourhood: MG Road
One of the most popular shopping, entertainment & business hubs of Bangalore that beautifully binds the old world charm of the British era with the modern cosmopolitan vibes is MG Road. It is one of the busiest main streets of the Bangalore Cantonment connected to its larger family of colonial streets that spread through the city, sprinkled with the charm of oldest buildings and churches. From hopping across cafes, restaurants and the oldest pubs & clubs of Bangalore near Church Street to street shopping at Brigade Road to surfing through best book deals at Blossom, MG Road is a convenient getaway for all locals who just want to chill. The evenings near M.G. Road are incomplete without a stop at U.B. City on Vittal Mallya Road for the swankiest nightlife with some of the best rooftop views of the city.

A tall and imposing steeple of this church standing amidst the moder building in the vicinity of M G Road on Cubbon road is worth a visit. A bsimple yet beautiful church in red brick color is well known for its very old style of Architecture. yet whats woorth a visit is the Beautiful stained Glass windows that are behind the Altar as much as the more than century year old Bible thats on the stand near the altar. SImple, stark yet majestic in its beauty this is a church you must take your children to . I'm not a christian yet enjoyed the visit there. The Church authorities are friendly and don't shoo away people . There is ample parking space unlike many places in Bangalore. Its time that many such Buildings in our country are preserved and used as tourist attractions to educate people about that part of our times when British ruled over this nation and the building they created to give them a sense of " Old Blighty" in India.

Andrew's Church one of the oldest church among many other churches in Bangalore. I recall that during my childhood days, this church was called the Church of Scotland. It so happened that a small prayer group would meet for prayers near the cantonment area and as the members started increasing they needed a bigger space for worship, thereby this church foundation was laid. This church area has got vast open space with trees and lot of fresh air, calmness, shade. The church is well maintained though the infrastructure is still of the British make.
The Pipe Organ which has around 800 odd pipes still stands as a proud heritance of the church. One of the best and oldest Organ. There are musicians who have mastered the art of playing this Organ. The painted glass displays the prophets of the Holy Bible which emits a hue of different colors when the rays of the sun fall upon it. One gets a heavenly feeling with the colorful rays of light and the music which is played along while the congregation sing the holy hymns during the worship time
Manekshaw Parade Ground is located opposite to this church. The entrance to the church starts from the Cubbon Road and the Parish Hall on the other side leads to the Infantry Road. The view of the illuminated Vidhana Soudha viewed from the top of the church is picturesque.
The church is conspicuous with the terracotta painting with a mixture of white color on the edges of the arch.
This church will be completing a 150th year anniversary this year in November Nov2014) still stands Tall...

unless you are some kind of a art and history person you wouldn't like it. the very first visit will take you back to per-independent Scottish architecture. It also has some magnificent stained glass windows depicting people and incidents from the bible only someone aware of it can appreciate. OH and the prized possession the more than 100 years old functional pipe organ. at least when i went there for a special concert in Nov 1014

We visited the place for a photo shoot. Got permission from a very kind lady who was in charge of administration. In the middle of a the shoot a vehicle drove in and a very rude man asked us to leave immediately. Upon telling him very kindly that we took permission to shoot, he still continued to shout at us in his aggressive and rude manner. People who work for the Lord must understand to first and foremost talk to people kindly - because God would've expected that much at least!
However, the church is beautiful!

The Bangalore Cantonment boasts of a number of beautiful churches located in close proximity to each other. Among the relatively not so well known churches is St. Andrew's Church. Located opposite the Maneckshaw Parade Ground, this church is often obscured by the tall trees in front.
The church has a beautiful red building, which reminded me of the Lal Deval Synagogue in Pune. Apart from its striking architecture, the church is large and spacious inside and is a perfect place for spending moments of quiet and meditating on the Almighty. One should take out time to visit it.

I visited this church at around 8:00 AM on a Thursday as it was close to my hotel. It was closed and quiet however there was a door open at the back and the guard allowed me to go in. It is a beautiful church.

This church located on the prominent place is a place to come and feel the serenity and peace . The beautiful architecture is from the britishers time and stands as a symbol of faith for all those who come here . The stained glass Work inside the church and the shrine is too beautiful . The seating and the alter will make you pray from heart . Sunday’s are best time to visit .
