Peaceful Temple

Had been to bull temple with family and friends on week end evening. We must visit this place. We feel peaceful atmosphere there. The biggest nandhi statue in Bangalore.

From outside it's almost unseen but first on the way there you can find very nice small temples from different Deities: Shiva, Amman, Kartikeya, etc. Then you walk the way up and then you find the entrance and there you can find the majestous Bull Deity. It's really big and beautiful. You do parikram to it and on the back... More

It is a single stone sculpted bull. It is of 12th century, i believe. It looks magnificent. Just take a look and you will definitely spend minimum an hour looking at it and enjoying the location. It is located in a calm area. The beginning of the route to reach the temple has two big horns on either side symbolizing... More

This is Bangalore's oldest temple. It is dedicated to Nandi, Shiva's bull, hence the name. It is one the biggest Nandi stone sculptures in India apart from the ones in Mysore and Rameshwaram. Also adjacent to the temple are Dodda Ganesh temple and the Bugle Rock Park which are good spots to visit in their own right. By the steps... More

While this visit only needs to be 15 minutes seeing this shrine is worth your time. The carving is impressive. If you add 30 to 45 minutes you can visit three or 4 other shrines in the immediate vicinty including one dedicated to Ganeshe; with the statue painted in ghee. Remember to walk around the statue clockwise to be respectful... More

Located in Basavanagudi, this Bull temple is located in the Ganapathi temple complex. This temple has a very big statue of Lord Shiva's vehicle - Nandishwara, the bull. The idol is carved out of a single rock. It's a master piece of sculpture. The architecture of the temple is remarkable. It's a well maintained temple. The temple premises is very... More

I think this is the 3rd largest bull in India, but I may be wrong. The temple is very active, when we visited a new car was being blessed. There are several stray dogs wandering around, but they seem docile. The bull statue is inside and it is not so easy to get a good picture of it. If you... More

This Nandi (bull) is carved from one solid piece of white granite, I believe 500 years ago. It is black because of the oil put on it. Walk around this small temple but get the feeling of peace. Limited parking available. Ganesh temple nearby.
