Indus or Sindhu is the lifeline of the Ladakhi people. It originates in Tibet and passes through Ladakh, Kashmir and then enters into Pakistan. Zanskar, on the other hand, is one of its tributaries and merges into it some 35 km from Leh town. The place where these two rivers meet is a place of beauty for the general, tourists,... More

The two rivers meet and flow towards a common direction. This is almost a spiritual sight where two completely different coloured entities are merging together and yet remaining separate and choosing to flow harmoniously in a common direction. If only all people could be like this. Please don't miss this sight!

The difference in colours of the waters of the two merging rivers is really interesting to see. The view of the surrounding mountains is breathtaking to say the least. The drive is good with scenic views.

This is where the Sindhu meets the Zanskar to form the mighty Indus river. Magnificent mountainscapes frame the rivers with Zanskar's waters blue in colour and Sindhus greenish in hue. This place is on the Chadar trekking trail much of which is now a metalled road. Enjoyed walking on the frozen Zanskar!
