The corner stone of the synagogue was laid on 19 October 1933 by Abigailbai Benjamin Issac Bhonker. The synagogue was consecrated on 2 September 1934.[1] The synagogue stands across the street from a Parsi Fire Temple at Bukhara Mohulla in Khamasa in the old Ahmedabad. It is included in the heritage list of the city

Sadly could only make it late evening post 6. Thats beyond their schedule. Could only have a look from outside .. Till now ;) Awaiting eagerly for a second trip upcoming weekend. Will post further then and also after meeting oh so famous Mr. Johnny Bhai :)

Magen Abraham Synagogue is the only Jewish synagogue of Gujarat state situated in Ahmedabad, India. It was built in 1934 using donations from members of the Bene Israel Jewish community of the state. Synagogue is a building in which Jews meet for religious worship or instruction. It is an excellent building

A lovely building. The "gabai" lives behind the building and will let you in. They hold services on Friday night which are open to all. When we were there, mid-February, this began at 18:30, i.e., about half an hour before sunset.
