I love dolls and miniatures, so when I found out there is a dolls museum in Chandigarh I had to go there. It has a large selection of dolls from different countries, groupped together with an information poster about that country. There were lot of dolls dressed in traditional clothing of different regions of India, which was cool, but some of the exhibits were very amaeturish (see pictures). Dioramas of Indial legends and European fairytales are in need of cleaning. It#s very amusing to see an Indian take on presenting Snowwhite or Cinderella.

There is a dolls museum inside the rock garden, but this one is different from that of Rock Garden.A small museum but have a large collection of dolls. There are dolls of different countries which makes it unique. Besides this they have exhibits of popular children stories which glue the children there.Overall, a good one to visit both for children as well as adults.

The place houses dolls from diferrent countries with their beautiful costumes.
In the back ground information about that countery is shown.
Apart from dolls they are showing picture stories from famous epics .
Another interesting thing on display is brides from different states of India in their traditional wedding dresses.
Over all a good experience for young children.
They have some paintings for sale which were good.
The place could be improved in terms of upkeep, and disply.
Most of the dispalys have frame in between which hinders photographic view.
The place is less advertised .

Collection of toys depicting Indian and other cultures. Most of the toys are broken and dusty. Must have been splendid once. Even then, it is worth a visit once, esp. with kids.
Closed on Mondays. Entry fee Rs 10 per person. Time you can spend: 5-10 min.

I would say that one must visit this place. Its quite different. Different varieties of dolls are on display representing different parts of the world.
The place is very quite and usually very few people visit this. But you wont regret visiting this place, esp if you have kids with you.

We had visited this small museum during my holidays in Chandigarh. We payed 10 rupees per person for entrance ticket and another 5 rupees for mobile camera for photography. The museum has a decent collection of dolls from different countries across the globe like China, Japan, Korea, Russia, Thailand, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, USA etc. The museum also showcases dolls from different states across India. We liked the collection here.

The doll museum is nice, big, very clean, well lit and has dolls from around the world & from every state in India. Each doll has a small note & the indian ones details about their state. There are dolls too that depict a story or life example... Cinderella, life of Buddha, Ramayanam etc.. wish the staff were a little polite..

After reading poor reviews, we were quite skeptical about this place. The place is neat and well.maintained. We took about 45 minutes to complete the tour. The spacious room.houses dolls from various states of India and countries and tribes around the world.Guides are available to help visitors, though there isn't really a need. Information displayed is interesting to read and informative. Must visit if you have kids below 13 years. The complex also has a play area suitable for a good picnic. Visit on a rainy day to see peacocks too

Date of Visit: 30th Mar 2013
Fees: 10 INR (adult entry), 5 INR (camera)
This is a little known place in Sector 23B and it may not be easy to find so I have uploaded a photo of the map for Sector 23 (it's beside the Bal Bhavan, and near the corner facing Sector 23A and Sector 16C). Even for a middle-aged guy like me, I quite enjoyed looking at the various dolls and reading the information boards.
+ points:
(1) It has an impressive collection of dolls including those from various tribes of India, the brides of India, as well as dolls from at least 20-30 other countries. It also has dolls showcasing scenes from popular fairy tales (e.g. Cinderella, Snow White), the story of Buddha, and scenes from Ramayana.
(2) The information provided on the boards are useful, interesting, and can be read easily (quite large fonts).
(3) The lighting is generally good so can take quite nice photos.
- point:
(1) It's a small place and not so well known amongst the locals so you might have some problem locating it (hence I provided the above info).

Hello, can you also purchase dolls at this museum?
Written 31 October 2019
Sorry, didnt see it earlier. No the dolls are for display only. Similar can be bought in handicraft fair and shops though.
Written 22 November 2019
All tickets are very less, wonder how will they collect funds to maintain... 180 rupees to 500 for flop movies n 20 rupees for a good museum. Indian irony.
