- Auldrick BKingston, Jamaica59 contributionsNice experienceThe show is 10 minutes but it feels shorter as you get caught up in the smooth movement of the statues in their slow dance coming together, and passing through each other. It's a marvel of a sculpture. It actually looks larger in pictures, but it's just as the given height of 8m. A lovely sight to behold, and looks good in hyperlapse video.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 May 2024
- Coryy20Port of Spain, Trinidad6,366 contributionsSimply genius moving artworkThis moving statue of Ali and Nino are the only such display worldwide. It is just simply amazing to see the genius work that went into getting these two statues to pass through each other. Simply genius. The area is beautiful, clesn and picturesque. However, I expected the statues to have been a little bit bigger but I was not disappointed. I am so happy it took 6 hours drive from Tbilisi to Batumi just to see the statue. It was the only reason I drove so far just to see this one of a kind artwork.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 18 June 2024
- Milind ShahAhmedabad, India2,020 contributionsA great piece of Art and loveThe Ali and Nino statue in Batumi, Georgia, is a mesmerizing piece of art that beautifully captures the essence of a tragic love story. Created by Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze in 2010, this 8-meter-high sculpture is located along the seaside Boulevard. The statue represents two lovers, Ali, a Muslim boy, and Nino, a Georgian princess, from the 1937 novel by Kurban Said. Every evening at 7 PM, the two figures begin to move towards each other, eventually merging for a brief moment before continuing their paths and separating again. This daily performance, lasting about ten minutes, symbolizes their eternal yet unattainable love. The intricate design and the moving segments of the statue, often illuminated with vibrant lights, make it a captivating sight. It's not just a visual treat but also a poignant reminder of love's enduring yet often tragic nature. Whether you're an art enthusiast or a romantic at heart, the Ali and Nino statue is a must-visit landmark in Batumi.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 August 2024

The story of Ali and Nino makes this such a beautiful and romantic attraction. The atmosphere around was magical; a band playing live music and people dancing on the street to music from different cultures and countries. Only thing negative is that from videos on Youtube İ had imagined that Ali and Nino would be a lot bigger.

Visited this monument today. Very impressive from various angles. The mechanism that moves both figures wasn’t working but that did not detract from its beauty. Great to admire with nice seating nearby. Great views of the sea and the port from this area.

We arrived to Batumi from Kutaisi as a group of a one day organized tour.
The walking part in the city is nice and to be honest I could imagine to stay there muck longer than the tour allowed us.
The beach part is very nice and the statue to see how they kisses and hugs each other it really touches me.
Also you have a nice view of the city center with all modern buildings.
I think next time I will go directly to Batumi to spend more days there only

The statue located at the end of the old part of the coastline is interesting. The metal work, also known as the Statue of Love, is 7 meters high. The statue, which represents the love of Georgian girl Nino and Azeri young Ali, consists of a woman and a man. It was made by sculptor Tamara Kvesitadze. It changes shape by interlocking in 10-minute periods. This is a revival of the epic love story of two young people written in the 1900s. It tells the heartbreaking love story of Ali Khan Shirvanshir and Nino Kipiani, two lovers who reunite and separate.

As much as it's impressive in photos, it's lamentable in real life... 2 statues 6 meters high like robots that come and go, all on a Walt Disney-style promenade where globe burkas and Russian tourists.
In short, this city, Batumi, is perhaps the least interesting in Georgia, move on.

Like most people, I was expecting Ali & Nino to be much, no MUCH, bigger. Somehow, this iconic Batumi statue is promoted as an optical illusion - which works well for advertising, but is a massive turn-off when you see the actual thing.
To make matters worse, they weren't even moving when I visited !
Nice idea though . . .

This was a nice and interesting monument dedicated to the love and friendship between Christians and Muslims. This made for a nice backdrop for photo taking which we took full advantage up. I really appreciated this monument and technical design.

Hi Jessica C! I’m really sorry as I’ve just recently checked in again. Hope you were able to visit and had a good time. Our local guide said it’s best to visit Batumi in Summer.
As for Ali-Nino, it’s constant moving as far as I know, unless of course it’s under repair or something.

Pelo que eu li fica na cidade de Batumi na Georgia; gostaria que a Erica me dissesse se o turista consegue se comunicar em Inglês e também se é possível usar o Euro uma vez que se trata de um pais da Europa.
