This is a great lagoon beach on the white sand side of Tahiti with tranquil, warm, clear water that’s ideal for snorkelling. The beach also boasts parking, toilets and showers, grassed and shaded areas with picnic tables. Bring your own food and drinks as the small kiosk is rarely open, except for crowded weekends. The shallows are also excellent for... More

A previous reviewers have put, most beaches in Tahiti are black sand. This is nice enough. Plenty of room, busy with locals, safe water... Nice to watch sunset over Moorea

If you come to Tahiti to lie on a white sandy beaches, this is not the place. If you want to hang out and hit the waves, this might be it.

Decent (when compared to all other Tahiti beaches). A long stretch of white sand (unusual in Tahiti), relatively gradual increase in depth. Clear water with good snorkeling (for Tahiti beaches) just a little ways further down the beach (PK 17.5). Quiet during week, busy with locals/families on weekend.

Great beach to go and see the local people. We found this beach really nice away from other beaches from other tourists. There isn't much about the beach but the locals consider this their beach so be aware and just enjoy!

The beach is not very deep - don't expect Caribbean size beaches and deep white sands. The water is beautiful and makes up for what the beaches lack!

We went to the part signposted Vaiava at PK18. Visited on a Friday between 10 am- 1 pm and there would have been about 10 other couples, small family groups. The snorkelling was fantastic with lots of varieties of fish, and a few different corals. We even saw a sting ray. We had no issues with strong currents. Visibility was... More

Ok, this is the score. The picture with the two cars isn't Punaauia beach, it's Mahana Park that has a small stoney beach, same with the picture of the showers - Mahana Park, too. Punaauia beach is past Vaiava beach which is itself 100 yards or so past Mahana Park (between Mahana Park and Punaauia). Mahana Park beach is excellent... More
