We visited the office at the dam on the lake. Chatted with a very nice young man employed there who gave us restaurant recommendations for our trip back to Ojo. The view of the lake from the dam is worth the short detour off the...More

Stopped here on a trip to Abiquiu/Ghost Ranch. Really beautiful lake. Trails and picnic spots abound. Water level was very low on my visit (due to drought) but seems to be well used by locals.

My wife and I stopped for one night at the Riana Campground. The camp managers were fantastic and friendly. On our way to the site, we couldn't help notice the impressive views. The campsite is situated above the lake, so the views are spectacular. The...More

While we did not fish or do anything recreational (as many there were doing), we did sit quietly and take in the beauty. Driving north, there is a very large roadside pull off on the left. Safe and a great way to not only look...More

Not far from the entrance to Ghost Ranch on the right side of the road coming north is an entrance to the Abiquiu Lake and campground. You can see it from the highway or from Ghost Ranch, but it is an enjoyable view up close...More

Mostly for summer enjoyment so make sure you stop to see the shore line, birds and water craft in the area.

Abiquiu Lake is a great kept secret. There were no boats on the lake that we saw. We brought kayaks and spent a day exploring the lake -- what an awesome experience. We stayed in a lakefront vacation rental on the lake and could put...More

Tent, trailer and RV camping overlooking lake with spectacular mesa and Cerro Pedernal views. This beautiful campground is managed by the Corps of Engineers of all people. Spotlessly clean restrooms and showers. Most spots are very private with covered picnic table, grill and fire ring....More

Some people in our party went to the lake everyday to do water jet skis, swim, and just relax. We all had fun.

This is a BLM campground. The cost is very reasonable the facilities are well-maintained. The views are especially beautiful in the morning and in the evening!

Hello, I didn't see any but read that there was a place to rent water craft. Not sure if they have kayaks. It would be a perfect spot though. Hope you get to try out kayaking on the lake. Enjoy!
