It was nice to get away from the industrial port of Lautoka and see how the locals live. Booked a tour through Abaca Village for a 3 hour waterfall hike with the best guide ever- Melissa! Came back to have a local meal with a host family and meet the villagers and children in the area. Abaca has only 100... More

If you love a walk & wish to take in a little Fijian highland in.... this is a nice day out. If you drive yourself - rent a four wheel drive at either Nadi or Lautoka where I did from the local car rental company the road can be tricky nearing the village, low clearance will not do. Find your... More

This place is a little hard to get to. Requires an expensive tour of around $200(Fijian) per person, or a 4X4 taxi can be hired just outside the Lautoka market for $80-$100 round trip total for up to 5 people. It's about a half-hour drive to the village of Abaca where you'll be given a traditional kava welcoming ceremony, charged... More

I really suggest you hire a guide to lead you to the best places and help you along the route. This is not for amateurs! The steps are steep and often wet. I recommend shoes that you keep on even in the water. Bring bug spray, as there were lots of mosquitos. Our guide took us to a waterfall for... More

If you are into hikes with rewarding views, this one is not to be missed. We drove to Abaca village from Denarau with our 2 kids (10 and 12) and I recommend a SUV or 4WD but we made it with our sedan, though at times, it was a bit nerve wrecking. Once you get to the village (google Abaca... More

Koroyanitu National Heritage Park has the most accessible walking trails of Fiji’s two National Heritage Parks. The park was preserves the area’s natural forests and endemic birdlife from clearing for pine forest and encroaching grasslands. At the Abaca visitor centre you can pick up pamphlets and local information, and you’ll find two walking tracks from here. The most challenging (and... More

During our trip to Fiji, my girlfriend and I decided that we wanted to see some of the "real" Fiji. From our hotel in Nadi we took a bus from the centre of town to the city of Lautoka. In Lautoka we found a four-wheel drive taxi driver, who offered to drive us up to the remote village of Abaca... More

Came by for a visit for a university group project on species biodiversity. The staff and groundsmen were very friendly and accommodated us for the 3hours we spent there. Good collection of exotic plants..worth checking out if you appreciate nature and they have lovely spots for little picnics if you want.

Access to the hiking trails in the national park is through the visitor center (there is a small park entrance fee of FJD15 per person) in Abaca village. They are 2 major trails there (in opposite directions), one leading to a waterfall which takes about two hours return and a more ambitious hike up to the top of Mt Evans,... More
