A nice historical place to visit .
It took less than one hour by yacht to reach to the site from Taba port .
You can enjoy the sites along the trip specially viord bay and the mountains on the Jordanian and Saudia Arabian side .
At the end of the trip there was a nice snorkeling trip for the coral beside the castle .

We went on the Pharaoh’s Island (Salah El Din's Castle) Schooner trip (8.30-4.30ish pick up/drop off at hotels at Taba Heights) with food, drink and snorkelling kit included. Great value trip, engines out and twin masted sail back. Escorted and solo snorkelling and introductory scuba dives if you want. Need to wear uninflated life jacket which was no hardship. Great snorkelling above buddy divers in 5-10 metres of clear water (except for scuba air bubbles floating up- great fun swimming in this!) above coral reefs.
The highlight…….swimming above Hawksbill turtle for 20 minutes!

The boat trip was not that good in services. However, the visit itself and the snorkeling experience were great.

Amazing game lace where you can see the four countries Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and Saudi at this tip. You can enjoy mountains and sea view with a fresh air and enjoy historical place like the castle.

Anyone who likes to visit palaces, castles and ancient ruins will want to visit this well maintained castle located on Pharaoh's Island, in the Gulf of Aqaba. This castle was built in the time of the Muslim leader Salah al-Din Ayyubi in the late 12th century AD to secure the Gulf of Aqaba against foreign invasions, and secure the way of pilgrimage and trade routes.
When you stand on the top of a tower in the citadel of Salah al-Din you can clearly see the borders of four countries; Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the borders of occupied Palestine.

The castle is really small fortifications off of the Taba / Sinai coast line from medieval times. It is more "patched-up" than completely restored, but it does offer a pleasant "elevated" view of the both sides of the Aqaba gulf. It is a dry "outpost" with virtually no facilities whatsoever, so, if you're not set-up with supplies on your vessel, make sure you come prepared with food / drinks.
The boat which took us from Aqaba for the day trip did land us directly onto the small pier from which we made the foot-walk around the small island, although we did see another boat which anchored further out in the waters and let off its passengers to swim / snorkel in its vicinity without setting foot on the island, so I'm guessing that you need advance clearance from the authorities (there were two or three customs officials / security guards who greeted us on the pier).
The snorkeling / scuba is decent (clear water with a good variety of brain / fan and fire corals) but not exactly spectacular, and it was pretty much "bleached" (whited out) with little marine life compared to other spots I've been to in the area off of the Taba Hights hotel stretch, Sharm el-Sheikh and some parts of Aqaba Gulf, and the truely amazing and best kept secret of Red Sea (thankfully off-premise to most human intruders due to visa restrictions and what have you) on the northern coast of Saudi Arabia (Haqel and really, the entire coast to the north of Dubaa which I accidentally stumbled upon with some friends from Tabouk years ago).
All in all, it was good for a lazy day trip, but I wouldn't make it as a main destination... Your better choice would be the attractions closer to Dhahab, Ras Mohammad, and of course Taba / Sharm / El-Joonah.

Not every day you have a chance to stand in one country and to be able to look at 3 other countries. That's how i felt when i visited the Castle for the first time. Israel Jordon and Saudi is few hundred meters away

During my trip to Taba, I have went to this Castle , first of all you have to reserve this trip with an agent in order to get the required permit
It’s amazing to get some pics and enjoy the sea view from the top

it is about something we have read about in our books and it is more interesting to go and see it in reality because it is part of our history

Hi, the price depends on where you stay because you book from the yacht or boats in the hotel. If you went check with the front disk in your hotel for more info. They should have daily trips twice a day or so.
