Departing our hotel at 1:15 am, we arrived at the base of the mountains at St. Catherine's Monastery. It was dark, but clear. It was cool, but not cold. We waited while part of our group mounted their camels for the first portion of the trip and once all were set, we too, began our trek. The path is rocky.... More

We started at about 1:30 AM and we took the camel just for fun. We realized on the way down the path is lined with jagged loose rocks and we have surely tripped or twisted our ankles in the darkness. The camels took you to the start of the "stairs," from there the tough climb begins. Even though it was... More

It is a kind of adventure to start hiking up to the top of the mountain for hours in dark and cold night until reaching and watching beautiful scenes of sunrise and the surrounding mountains. Amazing pictures can be captured there, then while going down, you can't believe how long distance you have experienced. Some visitors ride camels, and this... More

Climbing Mt. Sinai -- in the dark was made easier by riding a camel to the mid-point. There are still 850 steps after that. Words fail me to describe the beauty of the Sinai at sunrise.

We were in Egypt for 9 days and climbing Sinai was our most awaited before the trip started and it certainly was our most memorable. As a group of three ladies, who weren't seasoned hikers nor had active lifestyle, we were already anxious of whether we would make it to the top based on the reviews and photos of the... More

This is not the most interesting hike in Sinai, however it a must-visit landmark and the views from the top are spectacular. The way people usually conquer Mt Sinai (called Gabal Musa or 'Mount Moses' in Arabic), is by hiking up at night to reach the summit before sunrise. This is a good strategy, firstly because the sunrise offers spectacular... More

The journey up to the top of Mount Sinai done in the early morning to get a beautiful view of the morning sunrise. To more easily and enjoy a trip to the mountain top is more fun then a camel ride begins at approximately 1.5 hours from St. Catherine arrived at the first stop over and then we will walk... More

We were not fully informed or properly equipped when we set out on the journey to Mount Sinai and it was a blessing in disguise because we might have opted out. It was tiring and a bit of a struggle to get to the top but it was well worth the hike when you see the sunrise in the early... More

When and if you are able, go hike Mt. Sinai. They do offer camel ride until certain point, but after that, you are on your own. Depends on your convinience, the camel ride can either hurt you or make you sleepy on the way up. The hike itself takes about an hour. Be sure to start from the bottom from... More

The camel ride up was slow and barely comfortable because there were no stirrups. The next day, one would surely experience sore hamstrings. The slope to camel station mid-way was a gradual and moderate climb. A reasonably fit person would accomplish in slightly over an hour. The next 750+ steps from the camel station were steep and irregular. It may... More
