This is the only mosque in Hurghada that tourists may go to. It’s next to the marina and it’s called ‘the boat’ because of this.
Women can only enter dressed appropriately, which means long sleeves and bottom whith a scarf. You can rent it for 20 egp or pay €1,- instead.
It is a nice mosque, but nothing special. If you have never been to a mosque, do go there. It’s a nice experience. If you have seen more, then you might not like it. Like I said, nothing special. I did like the fact that stray cats weren’t sent away, but could walk freely. So humane.

As of this date, 7/5/21, the mosque is closed to visitors. But remains beautiful to look at from the outside. Sun shining on the domes is beautiful. The fish market is nearby and interesting to walk through. It’s unfortunate I wasn’t able to enter.

We came here in late afternoon. It is a very nice mosque to look at with its many domes. We could only view from the outside as it was prayer time. It is still worthy the visit and the fish market is nearby so combine a visit to the two.

El Mina Mosque, or the so-called Heavenly Mosque, is one of the most famous and most beautiful mosques in the governorate of the Red Sea in terms of architecture. Al Mina (or El Mina) Mosque was first built in 1968. However, recently the old building was replaced by a modern one. The construction of the new building started in 2006. In comparison, the government officially opened this new building in 2012, and it can accommodate 9000-10000 worshipers. The beautiful mosque is located in the heart of Hurghada, right next to Hurghada Marina and the Hurghada Shipyard. The Mosque was built out of pure white marble. This impressive building has two magnificent minarets, each about 40-metres high. Also, the facades of the building are decorated with traditional, oriental ornaments and carvings. The interior of the mosque is magnificent, the inner hall is richly decorated, with magnificent chandeliers hanging elegantly from the ceiling, complex arches, carved and engraved walls and a dome 25 meters high. It is open for visitors daily from 9.00-17.00 (except the praying times). The entrance is free.

I got stuck on this comment before writing about The beautiful part of egypt, about The beaches, about The corals, about The sea and about The things that brought me here once again.
To begin:i was offered this trip for Free by my agency, Tui. My guide, who was supposed to speak Românian, șince the 3 rd day of my trip did not hear, nor did he understand my language.....i m Romanian, you know!! Also for me it was difficult to understand something, due to his accent. So we avoided each other as much as we could. Smile Smile Smile But, Because i really needed to make some shopping from the City, i ve bothered him once. The tour was a mess, except for the history lessons we ve received from his colegue, and apart from the visit At the Mosque El Mina.
Completed after a long construction, which ended în 2012,Mosque El Mina was built on an area of 4 thousand meters a total cost of 20 million pounds from investors' own efforts and with the support of the citizens(!!!!) and the Red Sea Governorate and the Ministry of Religious Endowments. The mosque is one of the largest mosques in south part of EGYP.The surrounding area was planning to become a civilized Square.
A privileged position occupied by the large port mosque ( el mina el kabeer) in hurghada city on religious, cultural and tourist map of the province of the Red Sea and Egypt, but all of them as a unique architectural monument expresses the entire Islamic architecture.
If you want to take a breath again and just want to walk in peace, the Marina is recommended as the local retailers do not actively approach customers as in other places.Me, i like to bargain while shopping i did it și ce my first visit here, în 2015 so:no risk, no fun. This trip gave me The chance to buy some bags and watches, and, în The end the smiles of the sellers(Mr George from White Desert Hotel Shop, and mr Ibrahim with the Shop with bags only a few meters away from same hotel) gave me The feeling that it was a win _win business, namely 189 Times cheaper than original, normal price). Thank you for that, they are all gifts now. For me, i just bought some egyptian Tea, enough for this year and next year.
În El Mina visitors are welcome outside of prayer times. Women can borrow a galabeya and cover at the entrance to cover their hair, arms and legs with clothes. Contrary to other visitors, i had nothing against borrowing a galabeya, every religion has its rules, and i felt really good în this outfit, it had something mistique, the materials were comfy and i had the feeling they are keeping me cold against the high temperatures outside on that Day. What striked me was The diffference between the richness of this place and the poverty outside the mosque. Also, after some research i found out that it was built, amoung others from the money of its Citizens. This îs why i cannot give this place 5 stars out of 5,one star Will fall down. The '' story :'with my guide from Tui had also influenced the fact that one more star Will fall down on this trip.
I ll end my long comment here, not before adding 3 songs, as I always do on every of my comments:Guess who feat Grasu xxl-Doamne ajuta!, Moses Pelham - Halt aus, and Kichaa m feat Maskey-Dum Maro Dum.

Such a beautiful building, fantastic architecture. We just came across it as we wandered around, and we were stunned by it. Yes, I had to dress and cover myself but the dress was provided. I don't really understand why people would expect anything else, considering it's a mosque and women covering themselves is part of the religion.
Still, it was a very enjoyable visit.

Visited the mosque with wife and kids on Friday, prayed Jummah. The mosque is huge, amazing architecture well worth visiting. Tourists are alliwed to enter prayer hall, just need to dress appropriately. If you don't have correct dress they provide you with clothing. They have seperate women and mens prayer space. The people who run the mosque were extremely friendly and helpful. They saw we were tourists and placed our childs buggie and all our shoes in a locked room to keep them safe. The recitation by the imam was beautiful.

Myself and my friend went to Mosque to pray. We are not Muslims but were still welcome. As females we were given an outfit to cover us from head to toe. We went to pray, took some pictures and when finished we were asked to make a donation which was fine. Great architecture and place to pray.

I prayed in it at Friday 11.12.2015 while my stay at Hurghada. It is a large luxurious mosque with peaceful spiritual atmosphere. It has many domes and Islamic architecture. It is located along the new marina with nearby fresh fish market :-) 👍

Hello,
We are visiting Hurghada in August this year and wish to see the mosque. How far is the mosque from the hotel aqua jungle park and what’s the best way to get there? Do we need to book beforehand to visit the mosque or can we turn up please.
Many thanks
Written 3 July 2018
Not sure how far from your hotel but like any Mosque, its open to public so no need to book. The people are really friendly there. Best way to get around in Hurgadah is by using ABC Taxi. They are cheap and use a meter, you won't get ripped off. To use ABC taxi you will need a local phone sim card which you can buy from the airport after you leave baggage area. Look them up on facebook, you can get their phone number. You can also message them on whatsapp and ask them for a rough quote to where you want to go. They are available all times of the day and are similar to UBER.
