- Simona V1 contributionParadise on the earthEverything was just perfect! I would appreciate if staff members inform people about two things. Put your sun's cream at least one hour before swimming and dont touch the corals. Its not good for marine life and guys its paradise out there. A lots of people doesnt know about this.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 5 October 2023
- Eimear99Ireland2,809 contributionsMini paradise experience!I got the opportunity to visit and snorkel offshore on this beautiful island while staying in Hurgada. We got a private transfer from our hotel In Hurgada to the beach club where we picked up a beautiful boat which took us to the island. It was a stunning boat trip each way lasting 55 minutes. The boat was not packed and there was plenty of room to sun bathe or just chill and relax in the shade. On arrival at the island , we transferred from the large boat to a smaller motor boat to bring us onshore. We picked up our snorkelling equipment, were given shaded sun beds and then took to the shallow waters to explore the snorkelling opportunities close to shore. After this we transferred back to larger boat for about 15 mins and were brought to much deeper water to snorkel among the coral and stunning marine life. This was very deep but there was excellent supervision and guidance from the professionals. A spotter speed boat accompanied us and was available to provide immediate assistance to anyone who got into trouble or just got tired. We spent about 45 mins in these deep waters before returning to the island for a very welcome lunch. There was a further opportunity to snorkel on the shallow waters, swim , sunbathe or walk on the beach before we departed for the leisurely boat trip back to mainland and a private transfer back to Hurgada. An amazing day!!!Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 4 November 2023

Lovely soft sand, lots of shaded umbrellas for us to lay under. The bar didn’t serve alcohol but the soft drinks were welcome in the heat! The food was buffet style and very nice. View incredible. The water had a sectioned off area for swimming with small areas of coral but minimal fish. There was also a little inflatable slide.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 January 2024

Booked via Rep £70 each plus environmental government fee for boat trip is $5/€5/100egp. Don't pay in £'s as charged at £5 which is more. Boat trip was lovely and calm. Our guide Sarah was absolutely lovely and cheery. On arrival you get some time to snorkel in the shallows near your allocated sunbeds. Snorkeling equipment included if required. Lots of fishes to see. We found a couple were really inquisitive and kept swimming at us as if playing. You then get the opportunity to take a boat trip out to the reef. Very good experience although felt rushed. It was very difficult to film or photograph anything as you were constantly called to move on as limited time. I'd have preferred to cover less distance and given more time to look. The food included for lunch was really good. Selection of meat, chicken, pasta, rice and salads. Our return boat trip back was great fun. One of the guys offered to do some creative photos for us on our phones, at no charge. I honestly think he should offer it as a service as really quite good. We got to see an amazing sunset on the return which finished off the most perfect day. Definitely somewhere I'd like to return.

We booked the mahmya island cruise through our TUI rep. I must say it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish.
The boats was separated into languages so English together, polish together, french together etc. We had an English tour guide MO who was so lovely and friendly. He explained the itinerary and what was going to happen through out the day. We got to see some dolphins which was just amazing, once on the island we went snorkelling (hire the equipment for free) and it was fantastic. There was an option to go back onto the boat and do some deep sea snorkelling but we didn’t fancy that. Buffet dinner was served on the island and it was lovely all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Young children was on board and joined in so when we come back with the kids we will definitely be doing this again.

If you are in doubt about Paradise Island, Eden Island, Orange Bay, don't think twice. Make a reservation in Mahmya Island and you will not regret.
We paid 30€ per person directly to Mahmya website (for the boat transportantion + full day at the island).
From Makadi Bay, we hired ABC Taxi for 180 EGP up to Mahmya marina.
Everything there is very clean and organized. From the marina, the boat up to the island, it was really a perfect service. The sea there is very blue and you can walk around the beach, a plenty of space to walk and swim.
The restaurant is quite good in a reasonable price (we paid around 250 EGP for a fish&chips, beverages around 40EGP. You have the option of a all inclusive package for 50€ in the website.
We hired there a snorkling through Sabine coral (1h30 tour, the coral is about 15min. from Mahmya. Very beautiful corals there, really worth to pay it, 23€ per person including equipment).
We used then the equipment to also swim in the Mahmya beach and observe its corals, very beautiful ones as well, we could see a lot of fish and an beautiful array there.
Lastly I have to say that the water is really blue there.

I was disappointed with the trip. For the price I expected a lot more. The beach is beautiful and the water is crystal clear. However, it is very busy. We were squished underneath a parasol on sunbeds with two other couples. The beach is very busy and did not feel relaxing- we were actually counting down the time to leave.
One soft drink was included in our trip and the buffet food was okay, but nothing exciting.
We both had arrived not feeling very well, so had opted not to go on the snorkeling trip, which admittedly would have made the day feel better value. Those who went snorkeling enjoyed the experience. Feeling better in the afternoon, we would have gone, but everything was done to a strict schedule depending on the group you arrived with, so there was no flexibility. There were also no other activities on offer.
There were lots of people on the beach and it became quite chaotic arriving and leaving, having to queue a lot to had equipment back and wait for the right boat.
Overall, this beautiful spot feels like it has become oversaturated and was very expensive for a boat trip and a sun bed.

November, and my nostalgic part took over my rational side.
I ve needed a break, so i ve booked Mahmya during my 11 days trip în hurghada. Twice.
The trip îs a beautiful escape from reality, Once you did it you need more, and that s why i ve enjoyed every single second of my stay on The island.
The price îs fix, they don t bargue. It s 50 euro or 900 egyptian pounds food included, or 33 euro without food. I advice you to eat on The island, their food îs delicious.
For me The booking was made by Mr Eslam Salah, my friend i know șince 3 years, as he runs the trips în Orange bay.
All was perfect and you know me:after 6 or 7 Times on The island, i will return, and that s soon, very soon.
After the trip i ve made a short stop în old city, and during my stay in Hurghada my hotel was Jaz aquamarine, as usually.
But more about this tomorrow, now i need to sleep....
A song, well on our way back from island, i ve listened to dream it possible -
Jane Zhang, and I ve felt butterflies în my stomac.

We found the setup lacked any sense that this is a special nature area.
Hoards of boats head out with visitors, there’s two visible landing areas with cheap looking signage and a beach restaurant development albeit built as sustainably as possible).
There’s no real sense of protection other than the messaging around the corals which are worth exploring.
But if you’re looking for space this isn’t the place to go.

TUI excursion what a rip off.
Looks better in the pictures.
Nothing special just rows of sunbeds and umbrellas. Food disgusting and cold. Soft drinks included are poor quality. If you going to do this trip make sure you do it through someone as cheap as possible its not good at all. Plus side toilets are clean.

Four of us travelled from the Makadi Resort area of Hurghada in Egypt. The pick up was early at 8.30 am and the transfer to the Hurghada Marina took over an hour with pick ups from other hotels. We were then on the boat for an hour. We were transfered to the Island in a smaller boat. So, after over two hours travelling we were shown where we would spend the next five and a half hours. There was shade and old single bed matresses on the sand. We complained that there was no way to just sit comfortably, as the matresses were very low and nothing to lean back on. They did find a two seater bench seat {they only had two bench seats anyway}, extra matresses and two bean bag seats meant for children. After more complaining and not being allowed to relocate to a more comfortable area on the beach we simply had to put up with things and make the best of the day. Lunch was provided but the food delivery location was at the top of dangerous and uneven steps. The return trip was equally long and uncomfortable. It was also sold to see the sunset, it just about did behind buildings, as we got off the boat, We were sold this trip as being exclusive and a quality experience which we were really looking forward to. It wasn't! We had ten and a half hours of misery and discomfort. If you don't want to snorkel all day, don't go.

We went as a couple on December 8, 23, getting picked up from the hotel and driven to the marina. From there, we took a 45-minute walk to the island, which is very beautiful. We rested until 12 p.m. and saw some pretty fish right in front of our beachside location. After an hour or so, we left for the snorkeling site and returned for a meal at the restaurant, which had a varied buffet with hot and beautifully presented meat, fish, and poultry.
We also got a very nice bar with democratic prices for coffee, Coke, or other soft drinks in a can for less than 2€, and free choice of fins, snorkel masks, life vests for anyone who wanted them. a big beer 3 euros, or 110 le Alcohol-free virgin mojito 2.5% (85 le) must be paid.

At first we really pondered if we should go snorkelling at Mahmya, but in the end we agreed that it was definitely worth it. The beach is so magnificent and beautiful, we really enjoyed it. The life under the sea is so vivid and colorful, it's really breathtaking. Also the food in the restaurant was great, various and tasty.

What was the cost of the Mahmya island trip per person ?!
Is it cheaper to book in the UK prior to travel or when in Egypt ?!
Written 24 April 2019
Cost will be depending with which tour operator you will book with and normally it will cost £45 up to £65. book it from Egypt better if you got price cheaper from UK I will say book it immediately.Enjoy
