When planning my trip to Egypt, I was recommended to go to this place, it is not easy, you have to get a flight in the morning, visit the archeological place and then return for the flight back. It seems a lot of effort for...More

This temple sits next to Ramses II temple. It is smaller and less impressive. Put this temple anywhere else along the Nile and it would be amazing. But, walking into this temple after Ramses temple, it cannot compare, which really is too bad because it...More

This temple is the highlight of the visit to Abu Simbel. The statues are impressive and the images on the walls are very well preserved. The history behind this is amazing. A must see!

The drive from Aswan was well worth the trip. This is the most impressive monument I have seen in Egypt. The history of the temple and how it was pulled apart piece by piece is unbelievable. The sheer size of the Ramses statues is magnificent....More

If you're touring Egypt, recommend finishing with Abu Simbel. We saw many temples on our trip down the Nile, and they were fantastic. But the Temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel is over the top. Because of it's location and being buried in the...More

Just an incredible place. Standing looking up at those statues, it really puts into perspective how hard these must have been to make. We flew to Abu Simbel and were some of the first to arrive. It was an early flight but well worth it....More

I was in Abu Simbel 30 years ago (in excellent shape) and it's a top favorite, but my husband is on oxygen (small practical device) and both get tired easily. How long is the walk to get to the entrance of the complex? I don't remember if there are lots of stairs. Thanks for the information.
