We almost skipped this place, as we thought it would be like a zoo. But it turned out to be one of our favorite places on San Cristobal. The cab ride to get here was $15, but there was no admission fee. When we arrived,...More

This is one of a number of Giant Tortoise breeding centers located throughout the Galapagos Islands. It is more basic than the one on Santa Cruz but still interesting as the tortoises here are of a different species and have a slightly different shell shape....More

Once again, I come to this place. Once you enter this turtle sanctuary, be prepared with your camera rolling. We were immediately greeted by two large turtles by the gate walking along the trail path. Oh, please close the door behind you so they won’t...More

Great place to see large tortoises, but it's a breeding center. Nice trails and natural habitats. Exhibits left something to be desired, so it was good we were with a group and a guide.

We went, and we were the only ones there that morning. The tortoises had just started moving, which means we got to see them lumbering around, with only us to watch, for hours. It was wonderful. We did this as part of a combo tour...More

Great highlight of our trip! The tortoises are very impressive and the park is nicely made. There is a nice walkway (takes ca 45min to complete including watching and taking photos of the animals). The walk is therefore always partly shaded and you are not...More

I hired a taxi driver to take me to Cerro Colorado. The cost was $20 each way. I didn't care about the typical additions of stopping at beaches, I only wanted to go see the habitat. Driver waited for me while I followed the circuitous...More

Walk on the boardwalk here. Lovely selection of baby and older tortoises. Not a long walk around but well worth it. Found it hard to get a return if didnt want to walk and did not have anything prebooked..

I spent 3 days on San Cristobal and never saw or heard of a bus. It's all taxis. What you want to do is hail a taxi in town and for $30-40 the taxi will take you anywhere you want to go for 3-4 hours. That's enough to do the... More
