This market sold not only typical market fare but there was a bigger emphasis on authentic Dili pieces than is often found I thought. There were dancing and weaving demonstrations while I visited and several quite unique products.

One of the must see's of Dili. This are the traditional hand weaved textiles of Timor, although you will see your fair share of " machined" tais. Bargaining can be an adventure, but please remember that the workers have had to put up with over paid and over bloated UN workers that will try everything to save a dollar. Even... More

Not huge, but nice, specially if you are in your last day, to buy some gift or some souvenir to remember Timor Leste.... Worth to visit...

Tais Market is a small market specialising in cloth products and aimed at tourists. It is not easy to find so best to ask a driver to find it. Parking seems to be perfectly acceptable right in the middle of the road beside the market. The market is not hugely attractive. It is arranged in a u-shape with stalls on... More

we went to this market, it was so CLEAN and beautiful, it was lovely to see all the locals, and what they sell. I bought a table cloth, runner and little bracelets, they where all hand made :) :)

Definitely a highlight of Dili. A very small market, but packed with lots of cool tais and East Timor souvenirs! Definitely the best spot to buy souvenirs in Dili and very reasonable prices. Realistically, you could haggle down the prices, but when you see all the time and effort that has gone into making the tais, why argue over a... More

Local wares. Mostly something woven. I went for magnets and found none. If you are looking for a souvenir and to support the locals, this appears to be the only place in town.

Slightly hidden away, the Tais (local cloth) market has all manner of souvenirs. It's a tourist trap but you can get everything here including seeing the women weaving more cloth while waiting for a customer. Haggle like your life depends on it, they're pretty tough negotiators. It's an easy way to do a one-stop souvenir shop, but bear in mind... More

A little hidden from the main road and looking a bit like a garage this is one of the best places to shop for local goods. You will have to do a bit of haggling but many of the shops speak a bit of English which takes away the stress of trying to say numbers in a language you don't... More
