Villa Angiolina was built in 1844 and this marked the beginning of the development of Opatija as a resort. The following year, a small but cozy park was created here.
In 2020, a bust of the great Russian poet Sergei Yesenin was installed, who vacationed with his wife Isadora Duncan on the shores of the Adriatic Sea about 100 years ago.

This lovely park with beautiful bamboo and trees is in the absolute center of town. It includes the old Angiolina Villa which is a new tourism museum, worth a visit for the interior design and and simple expos. Take a walk in the park.

A very nice park surrounded by greenery and the blue of the sea. It is a great place to take a walk, since the most of the trees in the park are very tall, it also provides some shade if you visit on a hot and sunny day. In Villa Angiolina you can also visit the Museum of Croatian Tourism, unfortunately, it was closed for renovations when I visited.

Been 4 times. Although not a gardener I appreciate plants/flowers and this , although quite small a very pleasant area to walk through. You can see the pride the local workers take to present the gardens. On season when the flowers/trees are out (not being a gardner) are brilliant to see if you appreciate the effort it must take to present the spectacle. It is well maintained.

As we walked along the Lungomare, we also passed this beautiful park. It was very well maintained and attractively designed. We particularly liked the fact that it was laid out in a very varied way. A lovely place to spend some time while walking along the sea.

This is a very pretty park for a stroll very near the shore. The flowers are beautiful with a number of plant species from different parts of the world. Among the numerous interesting plants growing in the park is the Japanese camellia which has become the distinctive symbol of Opatija.

In the park stands the oldest building in Opatija, the Church of St. Jakov, mentioned for the first time in historic documents in 1449. Today the park is divided into two separate units, one near the church - the Park of St.Jakov and the other near Villa "Angiolina" - Park "Angiolina". Villa "Angiolina" is the building that certainly marked the beginning of the tourist epoch in the history of Opatija.

Opatija is also known for its gardens. This was for me a must see. Beautiful, green, rich nature next to the sea. One side you look-trees, flowers and green, and the other side you see big, blue sea. Definitely recommended for nice afternoon walk.

This is a public park so does not close during the day. Pleasant walkways and explanation of camellias. Good place to take a break. The villa is worth entering to view the ornate entrance hall. The museum is 20kunas and concentrates on the tourism history of the town.
