Like most places in africa, the place smalls and is dirty, people urinate in the street, there's rubbish not far away and don't even think of eating outside a western hotel unless you like contracting typhoid fever.

There is a lot of activity during the day. After office hours it is quiet - read dead. There is am quite a few good restaurants and one or two sights. But unless you have something specific there - don't bother

We had an opportunity to see the plateau from a high rise building and it was impressive. This is probably the place to see the highest and biggest buildings in Abidjan. We were told by our resident friends that people come to work here, but they live elsewhere and during the week the roads are full. On a Sunday though... More

The Pyramid is a brutalist pyramid shaped office building that is currently abandoned due to a fire. Definitely the more recognizable building in Abidjan.

The Plateau is beautiful from across the lagoon, driving through it you will be amazed at the wide boulevards and the interesting sites where people shop, like the fabric district, with the explosion of colors that only Africa can offer.

The Plateau is the hub of the business district- high rise buildings, offices ,banks as well as hotels and restaurants- however the roads are narrow and congested during the week- some modern buildings and many more run down and shabby ones! Roads are narrow and congested- one feels suffocated and yet is the hub of activity- be careful if one... More

Le Plateau is the business hub of Abidjan. It is dense with highrise office towers, banks, and shopping mostly for cheap electronics and cell phone services. By day you can't count the number of Ivorian men and women walking about is very snappy business suites. There are a growing number of good lunch restos, and in the NW part of... More

The local people all recommend this area if you wanna visit the city center. You could see a modern city of west Africa and discovered how the city was constructed during the last 30 or 40 years.

Plateau is the commercial and administrative heart of the country. The skyline makes people talk of an African Manhattan. That may be justified if you have never been to NYC.... While during the week the constant traffic jams are nervwrecking its emptiness on a Sunday is appealing and gives you the chance to explore Plateau quietly and in detail. The... More
