Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is an imposing sight from below but an even more beautiful monument from within. I was captivated not only by its shape (a whistle) and size, but especially by the stained glass windows.
The Cathedral is in the administrative district of Abidjan when there are many other interesting buildings. Watch out for new Presidential building and the French Embassy. In front of the latter, there is a lovely restaurant.
If you want to catch Mass at the Cathedral, they have services at 7, 9 and 11 am on Sundays.

The outside is impressive architecture. It is a must to go inside and see the stained glass depicting Africa animals and cultural correct skin tones of religious persons. The inside is cool and well worth the effort. Free to enter.

They just want your money. Cathedral is in bad shape and they use it to try to make you feel guilty to donate money.

In complete contrast to the extraordinary Basilica in Yamoussoukro, this cathedral is ultra modern, and is broadly designed around the shape of an elephant's head and tusks (the elephant is the national symbol of Cote d'Ivoire, and the "nickname: of the national football team).
Some describe it as one end of an unfinished suspension bridge.
It is worth a visit.

This is a beautiful building and the people there are so welcoming. Very moving experience. Strongly urge going when there is a mass going on; the participants are so moved by the service ... breathtaking.

Made in Abidjan by the Italian architect Aldo Spirito, the Saint Paul Cathedral of Abidjan was designed under the initiative of the late President Félix Houphouët Boigny.
Completed in 1985 after works that lasted more than five years, it was consecrated by Pope John Paul II, the 10 of August of the same year It humbly illuminates the heart of the Ivorian population by its unique splendor.
Its beautiful and huge cross reaches out to the beautiful Ivorian capital on the lagoon side, it is an impressive building.
Its architecture is full of meaning, inspired by the mystery of the Holy Trinity, hence its triangular shape. Its steeple, facing north, symbolizes the open arms of Christ, landing from the sea and fixing the interior of the country.
Its magnificent stained glass windows retrace the history of the Ivory Coast church, different episodes from the life of Christ, the Apostle Paul, the various sacraments, etc. The Trinity being one and the same person, it is the veil of roof that unites the three elements of the triangle. This veil rises in a parable from the earth to Heaven, symbol of elevation and truth, architectural reflection of the exhortation of St. Paul.
Its outstanding architecture is the subject of curiosity.

The Cathedral is amazing especially stained-glass inside the church but there's nothing special about having to search for 40+ minutes for guard to let us go up to the top of the cross; when we found the guard after our search, we were told it wasn't open for the weekend. What is the point of an observation deck like this if it's not open daily?

It is free but they say you need a guide and have to pay. We went with a local and declined the "service" and just went in.
