Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our family visited ACUA’s wind farm, wastewater treatment facility and landfill during a summer open house in 2022, and we had the best experience. Alexis and Amy are incredible educators and tour guides, skilled at sharing her expertise and enthusiasm with both adults and children at the same time. Our elementary-age kids enjoyed the tour, and we’re glad they had the opportunity to learn about sustainability and where waste goes. Highly recommend! And it’s free, too! They also have an annual Earth Day event that we would like to attend in the future.

Received a wonderful tour on 03/08/23 of Wastewater Treatment Plant & Wind Farm from Alexis. She was a delightful tour guide who was very amicable, insightful, passionate, knowledgeable, attentive, & provided answers to all our questions.

The tour took approximately 1 hour & included something for each of the five senses (except taste). The noise wasn’t too loud, & the smell wasn’t too bad, so no ear phones or nose plugs required. The temp was 47 degrees with sun & wind. So bundling up definitely helps.

Would recommend 10/10 and already looking forward to scheduling another tour !!!!

Alexis Demitroff led our group on an amazing virtual tour of the ACUA facilities! We felt as though we were there through the pictures and videos she shared. Alexis fielded questions professionally and enthusiastically! It was a very informative presentation and we couldn't believe how quickly the 1 1/2 hour presentation went! Well done ACUA! Had no idea this was in our own backyard.

It was very interesting learning how the windmills work, and seeing them up close. The facility also treats sewage so the smell may be bothersome to some people, but it is also interesting to see how the sewage is treated and what things they find which are flushed down toilets. Overall it is a fun experience, and also visit the landfill/recycling center in the same tour, its only a 10 minute ride from this facility.

Passed these windmills every time we went down to Atlantic City - great opportunity to see them up close, learn how they work and how the energy is used. Staff was super-friendly and shared interesting info with my kids. Need to call ahead and schedule this great tour!

We checked out at our AC hotel and went over to the tour before driving home. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable about all phases of the operation. The wind turbines are even more awesome up close. Make sure you are ready for the sights and SMELLS of the water treatment area. Our group was about 14-16 people and it seemed everyone enjoyed the hour tour.

Very accommodating!!! Our group was in town for only one evening for a few hours and they were able to make things work. We received a history of the wastewater treatment plant from how the water quality has been improved from the 70’s to now. They showed us how they use the windfarm and solar power to cut down on energy costs at the plant which is incredible! The tour included a lesson on the processes and step-by-step look at what the water goes through prior to being released, an up close and personal look at the wind turbines and a closer look at solar panels.

I just love wind farms, so this was a nice treat to see the grounds and the big wind turbines just outside of Atlantic City near the marina. Even if you don't get inside, it's just nice to see them up close.

My husband and I scheduled our tour the day after the Atlantic City Air Show. Monica described their facility and answered our questions on the wind farm, solar panels and the wastewater treatment facility. She brought us into the control room where one of the workers also answered some questions. We even had the pleasure of meeting the president of the Atlantic City Utilities Authority. Monica has excellent presentation and communication skills and made learning fun!

Tour the giant windmills in Atlantic City and see for yourself that wind power works. I have taken Rotary professionals from Italy and Nigeria to this guided tour with great effect.
