We went by bus, an easy 40-minute journey from the centre of Santa Marta and the bus driver was happy to tell us when to get off. No need for a taxi. The gardens and the museum celebrate the life of Simon Bolivar the ‘Liberator’...More

A great break from the beach for half a day, and well worth the short taxi ride from the historic centre

It was very interesting to know or remember about Simon Bolivar. The place was well kept. However, the furniture and marble sculptor or the liberator are too exposed to people hands. They need security cords as any other museum around the world.

Very beautiful hacienda. Inside guidance recommended to get the most important information about Simon Bolivar and his life for the independence of la Gran Colombia (Colombia, Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia). There is a very nice contemporary museum inside too.

We went with my wife and kids, the museum is ok and the exhibitions include beautiful pictures. They need to improve the maintenance, the botanical garden is a mess and the attention needs to improve.
