The Crane house (former home of writer Stephen Crane) is one of the great culture hubs of the area. The highly-curated programming is original, special, and smart. You will leave an event happier and more enlightened than when you came. Everyone who walks through the door is welcomed like you are walking into a longtime friend's home. Locals cherish this... Asbury Park has lost so many landmarks over the past 20 years and it is a very sad statement to a once historical town. The Stephen Crane House is one bright spot. I am happy that it has been saved.

Let's all pitch in and save THE CRANE HOUSE!! So much of the original Asbury Park treasures have been forgotten and destroyed...this is one of the originals...a first.., the oldest house in Asbury Park and so full of history--most notably-- THE RED BADGE OF COURAGE. Although the house needs work, it is still salvageable and worth it. I think if... More

Thanks to Frank D'Alessandro, Crane House's present owner, the Crane House continues to be a surprise. A lovely, quaint, peaceful oasis in the midst of .... Asbury Park. Frank is a very talented and knowledgeable gentleman, very welcoming and charming. It is so obvious that he loves the place. Frank provides excellent back-story for the movies he shows. His heart... Don't waste your time on this. The homes next door are much nicer AND have been lovingly restored but not this place. Avoid, folks!!!!

A labor of love, the Stephen Crane House has been lovingly restored and lovingly maintained by Mr. D, the owner/curator. Donations are welcome. Used for community events like vintage film fests or special yuletide programs, this mini museum is an interesting visit while at the New Jersey shore. Saved from almost certain destruction by Mr. D, this is one of... More

I visited for the Christmas season and was given a tour by the curator. The house has been carefully restored and certain details were left exposed so that the visitor can see how the house has changed over the years. If you need a bathroom, this is the place to be! Kitchens are plentiful as well. The house was tastefully... More

I attended a vegan taco party event at the Stephen Crane House. The food was splendid and our Tour Guide was extremely knowledgeable. I didn't find the neighborhood to be "very dangerous". I have to say the display of Stephen Crane's keyboard was just fantastic.

Stephen Crane wrote numerous novels, and is one of America's most beloved authors. His childhood home has been converted into a museum. The house is opened by appointment only (call 732-775-5682 to make an appointment). The house is very nice, and fully restored. An interesting thing was it was abandoned for a while, but purchased in 1998, for the same... More
