Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Certainly a very important place for local people to work on their recent history. however the content is much more difficult to fully understand for a non native and a non Spanish speaker. This is even more the case as the museum opted for a non selective display, meaning that no museographic selection is made. The visitor must work his way by himself through the huge amount of available data. Almost no artifacts, just screens, not my cup of tea despite the intrinsic very interesting and informative content.

We had high expectations of this museum having visited other similar museums. I am sure it was good but there was very little translation into English, the free app did not work. I would have paid a fee for an audio guide but it was not available. A great pity as this could have been an amazing but sobering and informative experience. Sadly a waste of a morning, which does little to honour or respect those caught up in the conflict.

I found this very underwhelming. It’s also mostly in Spanish, so if you’re not comfortable reading Spanish, it’s not worth the visit. It may have gotten lost in translation, but I felt this museum lacked the history/timeline and narrative. Would skip.

A great museum but the wifi wasn’t working for the audio tour, which is a drawback if you aren’t a fluent Spanish speaker because most of the descriptions are in Spanish. The English descriptions aren’t particularly informative or factual, more telling you what to think and feel. That said, the videos are brilliant, the storyboards and photos are very powerful, and it is all expertly laid out.

We went later in the day on a Sunday and the main exhibits were already closed. We were only able to see a small exhibit on the 1st floor and walk through the garden are. Will have to return on our next trip.

The people were kind. Daniel (an employee there) spoke English and it was good to hear his side of the issue. Powerful video of the mother who lost her son due to the Colombian military killing of him. It was in Spanish but i could follow along. Moving place.

Goes well beyond the usual headlines and deeper into the country's troubled civil war and history. Fantastic museum in a beautiful building. Much to learn here, personal stories and videos. Don't miss it.

The museum was free and was quite powerful. It covers the difficult history of Colombia as a whole and more specifically Medellin. I really wish we knew better Spanish because it would have made it even better, but it was still great. There is an app that acts as a guide. You see stories of people who lost people in the tough times or fought back against corruption in some way. There are tributes to those that have passed away as well. Definitely worth the visit.

We were really excited about visiting here but did come out quite disappointed but only because as a non-Spanish speaker, I lost out on about 60 percent of the content of the museum as it was predominantly in Spanish. I imagine this place was initially opened to educate locals on the history of Medellin which makes sense that it’s mainly Spanish, but as tourism becomes more popular in Medellin, and tourists are very interested in the history, the museum must accommodate.

I was impressed by how well done this museum was. They made the telling of Colombia's history a form of art. The exhibits were equally as pleasant to look at as they were informative. There is an app that walks you along the exhibits although it took me some time to figure out where it starts. It would have been nice if I was told where to enter the exhibits. You can spend a few hours here if you wanted to. There are some exhibits that are Spanish only so you would get even more out of it if you speak Spanish.
