Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good rooftop views of Plaza Botero and the cityscape of Medellin from the top of this civic building. It's free to go up but you must show your passport.
The view is good and it's worth going up if you're passing but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.
The building itself is a very striking one, as I said, if you're in the area it's worth a stop.

This Palace is simply incredible. Firstly the exteriors boasts a variegated design in which the colours alternate between grey and beige. The Palace is also huge and stands over Plaza Botero with such grandeur. The interior is equally impressive and showcases a whole range of local art and gives the place a nice cultural touch.

The building was half built by a Belgian who left in the middle of the project. Apparently they never finished it, built a wall, and called it a day. It’s a beautiful building and has all the statues surrounding it.

The building was nice but the surrounding area is congested, dirty and filled with vendors, homeless people and questionable people.

This place is for the art, architecture or history buff who speaks and reads Spanish well, since the signs and what the guides can tell you all in that language. That being said, it is a really beautiful and interesting place, whose eclectic style goes from Neogothic to Art Nouveau. The Colombian patriot whose life is depicted here, Rafael Uribe Uribe, was a sort of 19-20th century Liberal "Renaissance Man", responsible for many of the ideas that the contemporary political structure now embodies. There is also a whole section devoted to the Belgian architect Agustin Goovaerts, in charge of buidling the Palacio, which will be of interest to the art student/lover. If you are none of the above, at least you will want to take a photo, it is right on the square where all the Botero statues are located. Interesting juxtaposition of a major coropration's HQ, the "Needle Building" and the Metro, right behind the Palacio - the Old and the New Bogota rubbing elbows.

This area is very busy and crowded visitors beware…but it’s still a must see spot in the city. The huge statues are fun to see and make for some great photo opportunities.

Part of what makes viewing Botero Plaza so special is having this checkered building as the backdrop. Well planned square!

We did not go inside, but we visited this plaza a few times to take in the art. When you take the free walking tours, you can learn about this building and the square.

Being central and right beside the small park housing numerous Botero sculptures is just one added benefit to the amazing Rafael Uribe house.
The architecture and styling to the place is unreal, seemingly plunked into central Medellin by aliens!
Get inside and wander at your leisure, but be sure to check it out top to bottom. Not to mention that: it's a cooling, shaded, and free reprieve from mid-day temps; you're seconds from the Metro; it's literally on top of Botero's sculptures (as mentioned); you get some excellent views of the city, near and far from atop; AND it has been maintained beautifully.
Wonderful visit for anywhere from 30 - 120 minutes. Recommended!
