There is little that can be said to describe such magnificent views. I took a day tour to Guatape and it's surrounding in the only day off I had from work. I don't regret it AT ALL! Having to choose between the city of Medellin and going on this tour I had my doubts but once there it was very... More

We took a bus trip from Medellin to Guatape. It’s a two hour bus ride in the local small buses which hold about 20 people; the roads are steep as you climb across and over the mountains into Guatape. You even get a free bumper ride on the bus as it winds its way up and down the narrow roads.... More

Couldn't recommend going to Guatape. Such a lovely place. The town is amazing with lovely coffee shops, bars and colours. The Laguna is stunning and going up the Rock is a way to see some amazing views and see some of the amazing properties surrounding the town and Laguna.

It`s located about 2 hours by private bus from Medellin. The views are very nice. And you can climb the "Peñol".... only 740 steps aproximmately!! (small fee) Also, for a small fee you can take a bout tour. Nice place to visit.

We chose to visit Guatape on Maundy Thursday which may have been an error in hindsight given how busy it was! However, in spite of this it was a fun day out. We had some lunch over looking the lagoon at one of the many many restaurants. Climbed the peñol from the town via the hillside stairs and then the... More

The Peñol stone located at an hour and a half from the city of Medellin, you must wear comfortable clothing and shoes to climb the stone, wear coat is a bit cold, very nice view from above, there are restaurants and souvenirs.

you have to climb the 700+ steps to understand how awesome this place is. climbing steps are safe, clean and a beautiful virgin with many rosaries greet you half way. The rock, "Penon", could be exhausting (for me) but worth every minute!

Booked a bus tour, which included LdG stop. Could have spent more time (only had 2 hours), as hike up is about 30-45 minutes and 20-30 down, depending on crowds. Beers & snacks at the top are a plus. Views are spectacular! China has Guilin & Yangshuo, Vietnam has Halong Bay, etc. Colombia has LdG - it's that kind of... More
