About
The Metrocable is a gondola lift that links the city center with the surrounding hillside communities. More than just an efficient mode of transportation, it is also a convenient and affordable way to see Medellin, offering breathtaking views of the city and surrounding countryside. Your regular metro ticket covers the cost of the 30-minute ride, and you can take the trip multiple times as long as you do not exit the station. The hilltop residents make their daily commute on the Metrocable so it can get busy during peak hours. And take note of the timing of the last car from the top. – Tripadvisor

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The metro cable is a must do when in Medellin. The ride itself is easy and cheap, and you can see tons of the city in a way you otherwise would not be able to. That’s all good, but what really makes this special is what it means for the city. These lines are responsible for connecting those from lower income neighborhoods to the heart of the city, which was a key part of turning it around altogether. Take the time to read up on it, it’s truly fascinating!

WOW. What can I see, it's an incredible experience, worth every penny. Super smooth, well organised, and just unbelievable sights of the city from downtown to the pueblitos along the mountains. You can really see a lot and begin to get an idea of Medellin living during this trip.
It is a total feast for your eyes - even if you don't like heights (which I don't). It cannot be missed.
Take it all the way to Santo Domingo, and then swap for the cable car to the fantastically beautiful Parque Arvi - an extraordinary journey you won't find again.

This was amazing and interesting to go over part of the city and straight into the forrest to the top where there was some people set up selling food and other items that are all hand made. started to rain as soon as we arrived to the top so don't ever forget your umbrella when traveling around Medellin for the day.

Dont always travel and rely on uber or taxi. Medillen as a fairly decent MT system. Caught the train to the metro cable above the Medillen River. Look at the photos and go experience the ride. The only thing I dislike is the fact so much money went into this cable and it sits atop a very poor area of
Afro-Colombian tenants.

How many places do you know that a public transport like this makes life better for thousands ? It is usually used for skiing lounges ... not in MEDELLIN . It is safe and the sightseeing great , get to the last station and eat some tropical fruits you have never seen !!

The Metrocable is as clean as the rest of the metro an makes for some awesome views. I know of no other place in the world where you can get a cable car ride this cheap.
The view is amazing. Recommend to at least once ride it at night.

What a technological achievement and what an experience. Amazingly run, affordable transport for those who live in barrios on the hills, tidy and faultless. Well protected and gives a tourist a glimpse into the real life of Medellin. Amazing - complete with metro and tranvia is a day of getting to know this mesmerizing city.

If a group of people wanted to ride the Metrocable at around 8 how safe would this be? How late is it open? Is the view worth it?

Hi, It's open in the schedule:
Line L
Tue a Sat: 9:00 a. m. – 6:00 p. m.
Sun and Holidays: 8:30 a. m. - 6:00 p. m.
* No service the first work day of the week (if you know Colombia you'd know we have lots of holidays on Monday).
Because it's not open, you wouldn't be able to do it, although, in terms of security, you can go to Arvi anytime during the night to camp. Some people mentioned being robbed but I think it's quite safe.

No me fijé. No obstante yo me sentí seguro en todo momento. Por supuesto demás está tener cuidado siempre: la billetera de los hombres en los bolsilos del costado del pantalon y no en los de atrás y las carteras de las mujeres bien cerradas y al frente de ella
A qué hora empieza

Can you bring large luggage on the metro cable? I assume there may be a charge, I just don't want to show up with luggage and not be able to ride. Was hoping to spend the night at Arvi park if the luggage isn't an issue. Also I just found out today (Monday) that the metro cable is shut down on mondays for maintainance.
Thank you!

I am not 100% confident but there appears to be more than enough space on the metro cable....people are relatively easy going. I am not sure how "big" is big but I would say that a normal suit case (15-20 kilos) would not be an issue.

We bought a one-time travel ticket for use on public transport. As long as you stay in the transport system and don’t leave it, you can use metro, metro cable etc on one ticket.
