- PayneToPlaneHouston, Texas450 contributionsBocagrande BeachI was skeptical about visiting this beach because of the reviews stating it wasn’t very relaxing but I am glad I decided not to listen and go anyway. Yes there are local salespeople that ask you to purchase merch or services but did not bother me like I thought it would. Nice beach to come and watch the sunset. We brought wine, snacks and a speaker but did not use the speaker because we were enjoying other people’s music around. Come, watch your belongings, use common sense and you should be fine.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 January 2024
- darrenjAtl84 contributionsThe sellers harass you constantly so you have no peaceWe stayed at an Airbnb right across from the beach. The beach itself is ok, nothing special. The sand is a light brown, not white/cream, and the water is kind of a dark bluish-green, not clear. If it were just for the beach itself, I'd probably give it 3 stars. But the constant bothering by the vendors really makes it unpleasant. They try to sell you everything from massages to fruit, water, beer, toys, hats, floats - some even come and start rapping loudly or singing right in your face as if you're going to give them some money for doing that. The majority of them will accept a "No, gracias", but others are more insistent - they just keep standing there staring at you or trying to ask you in some other way or the masseuses even try to start grabbing your feet like they're going to start without your consent!. Beaches should be a time when you can just relax and enjoy the environment, but it's really impossible on this beach.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 February 2024
- AJMagwan Hospitality ConsultantUnited Kingdom139 contributionsDisappointing, noisy and dusty. The beach is pretty dirty in many areas, the busy road is right behind it and there are a LOT of building works. Unfortunately it is not nice blue Carribean water either. There are lots of sellers hassling you constantly. Not really conducive to a relaxed beach holiday. The apartment block we stayed in located in the Palmetto building was having major renovations done on the pool area (likely for a couple of months more) and apartment was really run down so we really didn’t have a good stay at all. Make sure you really do your homework and ask questions of the accommodation before you book.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 April 2024
- Aprylgem5Norfolk, Virginia482 contributionsThe "Little Miami" of CartagenaI stayed in Marbella near the beach, but opted to venture out to Boca Grande after reading other reviews. It was a much nicer beach with a little less locals and vendors as Marbella Beach had. I can definitely see why they nickname this are "Little Miami"Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 2 June 2024
- Juan8 contributionsNice beach but waybetter early morning!!I read alot of the reviews and said what the hell.My 1st visit on a Friday around 5pm. Yes there's alot of vendors bombarding you with things to sell...women offering you massages ect ect it is kinda annoying saying No Gracias about 5o times. My 2nd time Saturday morning 6am. Nice and quiet a couple of people on the beach but MUCH BETTER!!Visited July 2024Travelled soloWritten 13 July 2024
- Pepper W1 contributionPrice gouged. The beach was nice. The vendors are too pushy and won’t leave you alone. You almost have to get downright rude with some of them. Also services are overpriced. I spent an hour and a half on the beach on beach beds with a sun umbrella with a friend and had a bottle of water and a Mojito and they wanted to charge me US$100 and I had to talk them down to $80. Also, if you try to pay for anything with a credit card, there’s a 20% up charge. Stay away! Go to a hotel with a pool and use that instead, way better.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 12 August 2024

First beach we visited as our hotel was close by. We were immediately surrounded by ladies offering us massages and braids for my hair. Without us even saying "yes or no" they started massaging my brother and me. I told them to stop and to go away. All we wanted to do was eat in peace but this did not happen at all as we were approached by more vendors. Not one ounce of peace and quiet. Out of curiosity I asked how much they charged for a massage (mind you they use ocean water and god know whats inside those gatorade bottles which is supposed to be "lotion") the lady said 120K pesos which is $40. Ridiculous. The massage ladies kept coming over and insisting and they even asked to take my left overs when i wasn't even done eating. Super disappointing.

The beach is... ok ~ water itself was brown, beach seemed a bit dirty, but alright, until we saw a huge shard of glass.
There is no peace, you cannot even formulate a thought without being relentlessly harassed by countless aggressive hawkers.

I don‘t even know how to describe this experience. It was loud, annoying and zero relaxing. We were offered food, drinks, ice cream, massages and other stuff every 30 seconds. Jet skis were driving in between swimmers. Masseuses touched us and wouldn’t stop until be moved away. You can‘t just sit on a towel, cause of vendors putting up chairs and umbrellas everywhere. I don‘t get how large hotel chains set up their hotels next to a „beach“ like that. It‘s called Miami Beach of Colombia, but really it couldn‘t be furzher away from it. Don‘t waste your time.

To many salespeople chasing you,, impossible to get a quiet moment. Very strict divided in small zones that you got to pay for the 2x3 meters,, feels like a chess table. Far from eastern beaches in Thailand. No stores or restaurants are located beachfront, they are all up on mainstream that are very noisy. Restaurants are in average less than mediocre in food and service. Will nog go here again.

We wanted to sit by the beach and drink a few beers. Within seconds 3 women wanted to give me a back rub, foot massage and arm massage. I politely say no, thank you but they insist "tranquillo, tranquillo, just promotion... no fee." Regardless, I don't want any free massage now or any time later. But they are insistent and slather your back or arms with massage lotion and just give you a promotion massage. Then there are those aggressive, insistent vendors who sell bracelet, sunglasses, cotton candy, oysters and other fruits and drinks.... no amount of "mañana" or "gracias" would keep them away. No peace and quiet on this beach, music blaring out loud everywhere, trash and dog poo on the beach. I would never come back here nor recommend this to my friends.

We are located in the beach area known as El Laguito. The sea is not the most beautiful, but it is very calm and with few waves. We rent chairs and umbrellas at a reasonable price. Vendors approached but no one forced us to buy anything and we even talked to some who were friendly. We really liked the experience and at no time did we feel in danger or unsafe.

I agree with the other reviews, stay away. We were walking the beach, and this fine young man who spoke English wanted to “host and guide us” helping us with ordering our drinks. Shortly thereafter, a woman came wanting to give me a massage. I said no. I continued to say no, and soon she was massaging my neck, stating, don’t worry it’s free. Then, she started working on my legs. I wanted my husband to tip her a little, because it was nice. Then, she said it will be 100,000 pesos. It didn’t end there. The “fine young man” who was helping us suggested a piano colada to drink. My husband received the bill, and that pina colada was 45000. We paid 18000 at nice restaurants. Fool me once... never again.

The view is nice and that's all that is good. Awful place, never to return. You will get harassed and harassed. Unpleasant, overpriced, over rated, noisy, polluted. Pick a good flat or hotel with a pool and stick to that.
