Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been in this place for a couple times with my wife and it is a sad view. Even though architecturally is gorgeous, in the evening this place has the largest number of women (offering themselves) I have seen even in movies. I hope the city can do something to save this beautiful landmark

Torres del Reloj is the meeting place for tour groups and tourist in general. There are lots of vendors and painters selling items to catch the eye of the tourist. Is pretty crowded most evenings but a nice lively atmosphere. It is also the most common entry point to the Walled City. Once in Cartegena you will pass through this point more than once, so enjoy the atmosphere.

Even in a pandemic, this large outdoor square sings with loud music and laughter. Everyone was wearing a mask unless sitting at distances tables and drinking beer. This is the heartbeat of Cartagena’s nightlife.

“La Torre del Reloj” is the entrance to the walled city and it is an emblematic point of reference in Cartagena, right outside in the evening gathers lots of people to eat street food or just hanging out with their families.
Right inside passing “La torre del reloj” there is a hallway where they sell traditional sweets, it is called “el corredor del los dulces”.
Outside “la Torre del reloj”starts the oldest neighborhood in Cartagena outside the walled city called Getsemani.
A picture here is a must if you go to Barranquilla!

The clock tower itself is nothing spectacular. There are prettier, and older, buildings in the city. The clock tower however does act as a sort of main square of the town and there are a lot of popular cafes, and bars there, as well as places to exchange money. The area really comes alive at night on the weekends. There are fun, rooftop bars overlooking the square and tower where you ca drink, salsa dance, and eat. The locals tend to hang out in the square before going out to the clubs around midnight so the scene in the square from 10pm-1am can be quite lively and don’t be surprised if you see quite a few, um, professional women standing there and waiting for men to approach.

As a Trip Advisor DESTINATION EXPERT for Colombia with 30 years of visits and now living 4 years in Medellin and exploring just about every city large and small - it is my pleasure to provide this reasoned and accurate review of the Torre del Reloj.
You must see and appreciate this iconic historical tower! You can't miss it and you will end up walking by it more times than you can count especially so if your staying at a hotel in the walled city.
At night the lighting of the tower makes it almost magical and so don't be distracted by the night time going-on's within the plaza below with the ladies and men interacting, rather just enjoy it for what it is.
As I just arrived on my drive up from Medellin to start my road trip on the coast the clock tower is a welcoming site after my 13 hour drive from Medellin.
I have been a number of times to Cartagena and will return of course always being welcomed by the Torre del Reloj!

This is an interesting refuge from the constant road traffic in this area. Girls practicing their dance steps, men talking in small groups, the occasional napper, pigeons and squirrels prancing about and tourists feeling their way make this a place to sit and contemplate the meaning of life. Around the perimeter book sellers offer a large collection of books to read.

The clock tower marks the main historic entrance to the old town through the walls of the city. Through the double arches you can enter the historic centre or indeed depart it in the direction of Getsemani.
It is a beautiful, elegant tower and both it and the plaza behind it are always a hive of activity. A great landmark to use to get your bearings.

The beautiful Clock Tower is one of the main symbols and postcards of the walled city of Cartagena and is located in the place that was once the main entrance to the Walled City, it has an imposing construction, which draws attention even from afar, measuring around 30 meters and its clock is one of the most important in Colombia and the world.
Facing the inlet of the sea, it is between the walled city and the neighborhood of Getsemaní, with a drawbridge connecting the two neighborhoods.
There used to be a moat there and the arches, which today serve as protection from the sun and shelter for street vendors, were used as a chapel and arsenal.
The place is a very visited spot and is located between the squares of La Paz and Los Coches, a square famous for its street vendors selling typical Colombian sweets.
The Clock Tower region is a very popular place among tourists and visitors and even at night, it receives an intense flow of tourists and residents, when the Tower becomes even more beautiful, as it receives special lighting.
In the past, this place was also very busy, as it was a slave trading point, with great historical appeal, the space has served as a stage for important historical moments and events over the years.
The statue at the entrance to the arch is of Pedro de Heredia, founder of the city.

Really is a meeting spot for tour groups , dance groups at night, allows great pictures both on the ground and from rooftops. It is a must see.
Be warned that the smells may be a bit aggressive. As are the street salesmen here.
