Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Colourful interconnected building under whose arches are sold a myriad of local sweets, mostly handmade, containing coconut and tamarind. I tried a few and found them overly sweet, but that’s just me. Diabetics beware. The plaza it’s in is somewhat bland, but face the buildings and it suddenly feels brighter...

The candy market is great fun!
Most of the vendors sell the same things, but there is some variation.
Some look fresher and better presented.
It is fun to browse and bring something back for friends.
Very colorful!

A one and done thing to see unless you are big into coconut treats.

I have a sweet tooth, so this was definitely on my list of things to visit when in town. Various local vendors selling sweets. Plenty to choose from if you love coconut flavored treats. I did not get anything.

There are about 10 little stalls that compose the area. Each has a selection of homemade candies stored in glass jars. Many of the shops have created sample packs in the event you are not Colombian and don't know what each candy tastes like. Many of these candies are made of coconut and all are seriously sugary! If you aren't a serious sweet, sweet candy lover these will not be for you.

If you’re wandering around the old city enjoy a cool stroll under the arches with stall after stall packed with sugary sweets. Paradise for anyone looking for a sugar rush.

Try the cocada, balls of syrup and coconut, or the blocks of guava paste wrapped in banana leaves. These are actually great as energy bars for cycling or running - and you can get a whole box of them here for the price of one piece in Europe.

Portal de Los Dulces is located in the Plaza de Los Coches. In the arcaded walkway there are many sweet shops and areas to retreat from the heat. Great place to pick up a little treat to take back home but also to admire the architecture while you have a cold refreshing drink.

Tour of these places is not necessary - you can do this yourself! Destinations mentioned are next to each other - google the sites and save yourself the money - haggle for prices at el Paseo de Los Dulce’s - home made sweets - most will give you samples. Try the coconut sweets. Delicious
