Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Twenty-three shops in the old city walls of Cartagena. A great place to look for souvenirs for your trip. My advice is go through all of them because each shop has slightly different options (also good to price compare).

We stopped here as part of a cruise tour and were instantly surrounded by peddlers who didn’t consider the concept of personal space, especially on a narrow sidewalk. We were steered to a particular souvenir stall as I suspect the tour guide received a commission. The bathroom there was disgusting and looked like it was a holdover from the old dungeons.

The old prisons of yesterday capture you for that item you need to remember your trip. Multiple dealers with everything from t shirts to jewelry to refrigerator magnets. Beware toilets here are pay to use and pay for paper; so use, just pack some toilet paper.

Cool, but you can see the entire thing in 3 minutes. The shops sell the same things all the other spots around the old city sell. Would've been better if they left one of the cells empty so tourists could see how one used to actually look.

I suppose good to see an old building repurposed but now just a row of shops in an ornate building. Most of the shops sell the same thing and hassle you to go inside.
A shame the history of the place isnt made more of, them being old prison cells.
I think we were unlucky in that our visit coincided with a childrens parade making it extra busy and chaotic.

The vaults remain one of the most traditional and emblematic sites for the purchase of handicrafts representative of the Caribbean region. There are spectacular shirts and dresses, representative of the Caribbean culture. It is a must to go when you are in Cartagena!

This market is right against the city wall. We stayed right across the street when we were in town. Plenty of souvenirs are available.
There is lots to see and buy. It can be pretty busy, so go in the off hours.
The vendors are friendly and helpful.

As others have also said the building color is pretty but all shops sell about the same thing. It's so packed with tourists. Prices are high for cheap stuff you'll regret spending on once you get home. ( Where will those bright colors fit in to my home?) No haggling on prices. Take a picture w/a Columbian lady in traditional dress for a dollar. If you're determined to find a little different shirt than every shop seems to carry, make your way down to the very end where most tourists give up before going to every single shop. All in all.... it's cheap souvenirs for not so cheap prices.

We hired a professional photographer and chose to meet at this place to take portraits. Made for beautiful backgrounds from anywhere. We enjoyed shopping for souvenirs of all kinds and Colombian emeralds. Lots of shops and very laid back.

We went to this place to buy souvenirs and handcrafts, but there wasn’t much variety.
We found just a few stores with decent merchandise.
There were a lot of Chinese jewelry, not locally made, which is what we were expecting.
Definitely nothing outstanding!

The area of the wall where the Bovedas are I think is friendly for wheel chairs The accsess is a wide ramp and you can see the ocean there. Inside the bovedas not all the shops are spacious to go inside and check., people is very friendly and helpfull. There are restroom in that area that might be a challenge.
