Booked tour in Cartagena. Ride to mud volcano is about forty-five minutes from Cartagena. As you descend to mud there are massages available for a small fee. You can have someone hold your camera and takes pictures for another small fee. Last walk to the...More

This was awesome! Bring extra clothes. You start this excursion by climbing to the top of the volcano and then descend a small ladder into the soothing mud interior. The mud is very buoyant, and you will have a hard time not floating around. You...More

A day of pleasant surprises. On the way to Lake Totumo you get to see the new areas opened up by the tunnel and road to Barranquilla. Once at the lake, yes there was a line, but is part of the experience watching others before...More

I agree with previous reviews stating you should go on your own. We went with a tour but luckily ended up being the first ones at the volcano. The only thing we paid for was the picture guy, we didn't take neither the "massages" nor...More

Really good experience. We read a lot recommendations on the internet on what to do and what to expect. There is a lot of different people who will earn money on massage, taking your picture for you and washing you after you bade in mud....More

It is a must do once while in Cartagena. Located about 45 minutes from Bocagrande area, depending on how many stops at other hotels to pick up. Make sure you wear a old or dark swim wear. There are a few change rooms but best...More

It is fun if you are adventurous. It is a relatively small mud bowl. It can be crowded at times, probably best to go during the lunch time. Thick mud, you cannot sink. You can wash of in the nearby lake.

Absolutely! It was the highlight of our 4 year old's trip. We showed her other tourist's Youtube videos to prepare her for the kind of bizarre experience and she was ready!
