Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good for shoppers as there are lots of different small outlets selling souvenirs, handicrafts, clothes, bags, jewelry and other 'stuff'. The stalls are in what used to be a park and along a street higher up. There are also some restaurants and fast food joints in the adjacent neighborhood. As the ensemble is on a small hill (loma) it is more exposed to the wind and slightly cooler than the city center. Part of the parque at the Calle 5 side is under reconstruction.

Thursday 7-9 a huge group of people gather to dance in sync together to music typically of the Andes. One guy in the center led the group and when everyone got in sync on a movement it was amazing to see. Fairly simple movements, great exercise, great energy. So many different kinds of people all together. Really unique experience. I am so glad I went. Don't miss it! You really have to be there or see a video to appreciate the patterns of the dance done together. Also great shops (artesans/local crafts) and places to eat. We ate some fabulous Peruvian ceviche.

Loma de la Cruz is an artisanal market which is surrounded by small food places and has a lot of native American influence. On Thursday nights, around 7pm there is a Flash Mob (crowd dancing) kind of event going on in which anyone can participate, highly recommended.

I was surprised that so many Caleños and Caleñas (male and female people of Cali) were not aware of this park. If you are looking for traditional Colombian souvenirs, this is the place to find them. Do yourself a favour though and check the bottom of whatever you're buying. You may be surprised to see that the Cali souvenir was made in China.

That said, you can still find a great deal of homespun artifacts that are well priced and will be cherished for years to come. How about a Hammock to take home and put up in the yard?

We were looking for a place that would have plenty of goodies to purchase during our trip to Cali, Colombia and we were told of this place that would have some options. We liked that when we showed up it was not crazy busy and it was also a nice hang out park. It is about a half mile walk with tons of shops that sell a little bit of everything. We were able to find a few items for purchase plus there are also plenty of options for food. We ran into a small Peruvian place right in the corner that was amazing. The high-times for the shops are weekends from about 5pm and on. You can definitely bargain with them at all shops. I would definitely recommend a stop at this place if you are in the area.

I went with a friend who is into the people and culture of such crafts. She felt it was more of a marketing event than actual artesians with their wares. You can find all of these in the Alemeda in a store named "The Calenita", but you have to watch your pockets. Lomo de la Cruz is a 3.5 of 5.

GIFT IDEA #1: Go to the grocery store and buy the red eagle brand of ground coffee. It costs less than $2.00 USD and everyone, I mean, everyone who drinks coffee back home will LOVE this.

I also recommend buying small bottles of olive oil, seasonings and other small items that have words in Spanish that folks can't buy back home and they will love it.

GIFT IDEA #2: Get ALL of your souvenirs from Parque Artesanal Loma de la Cruz.

1) DO NOT buy from the first vendor you see. Trust me, you will find better prices the farther in you go.
2) Buy souvenirs that cost 3 pesos = $1.00 USD this way you can buy tons and give to to everyone and those folks you forgot about.
3) I go for the magnets, they are cute and inexpensive and the farther in you go, the better ones you'll find

Go while it is light out, a few hours before dark, so you can see. It felt a bit sketchy at night.

My daughter and I took an Uber or Lyft (which ever one is working in Colombia) to and from Loma de la Cruz. Very easy. ALWAYS take Uber or Lyft, you can see how much you are being charged and where the driver is going. You will ALWAYS pay more in a cab!

Just like any place in the world primarily selling souvenirs to tourists - it's up to you to dig through the mass produced trinkets to find the good stuff. It's definitely there, and it's very reasonably priced. There are artisans making things right in front of you. There are several nearby restaurants and bars to sit for a drink or a snack while you shop. All in all, a laid back experience. It could use a fresh coat of paint and a little clean up. But there were half a dozen young, not particularly intimidating police just strolling around, keeping an eye on things. So it feels a lot safer than maybe it looks at first glance. Highly recommended it if you want to find something more unique and authentic than you can find in a mall.

Have now been to the Cruz on multiple occasions. Love having a walk around, and a little food and drink at one of the many bars and restaurants. I feel being a foreigner that this truly immerses you in the Cali culture with local people.
There is usually entertainment taking place in the "theatre", which everyone was enjoying. Sadly, my Spanish is still crawling, but it was great seeing the locals have a little fun.
I have seen many strange things on my travels, but the Guinea Pig gambling is a new one for me. I will not explain, but if you go, you must try it.
Definitely a place to have a walk around and enjoy the hospitality
