A beautiful Buddha temple...on the outskirts...very peaceful and quiet place. Buddhists monks still live there. Had an opportunity to attend a Buddhist prayer.. Very very touching

Ancient temple complex which is worth at least several hours. Do not be deceived! The temple is about 25 km east of Ningbo, but the metro line has a stop very close to the temple complex. Upon exiting the metro station, there are enterprising minicabs which will take you to the temple gate for a few yuan.

This ancient temple is situated in the deep woods east of the City and it attracts worshipers as far away as Japan and Singapore. I love the architecture, and the your can spend a whole day there, soaking up a purely spiritual experience.

Getting there and back from the center of Ningbo can be a bit of a challenge, as there aren't any taxis around waiting to take people back. The entrance to the scenic area leading up to the temple(s) feels like it was 95% constructed and then abandoned, which is bizarre. All of the buildings look new and almost finished but... More

My family and I have been to Tiantong three times now, and it is always a pleasure to get away from the noise and pollution of the city to the comparatively cleaner air and more natural environment of this temple. There are many things to see--bamboo groves, ponds, a pagoda--and on two of the three times we went, there were... More

Tiantong Temple is over 1,200 years old and it's special to see something that has stood the test of time, including a 1,200 year old tree on site. The gardens are beautifully kept and it's worth a visit just to walk through them. The whole setting is serene and calming. Tip: wear good walking shoes as there is a lot... More

Went with a couple friends on a sunny weekday afternoon and it was not crowded at all and gave many wonderful photo opps. It was very peaceful and beautifully situated in nature. Definitely worth a 3 hour visit or so - take your time and wander around everywhere!

Still my favourite temple in Ningbo, but maybe I'm biased because I've been here many times.. Sometimes it's crowded with tourist, at other times it's tranquil. Allocate a half day to visit here. Take subway Line 1 to Southwest Ring Road (东环南路) and then take bus 162 towards the terminal station at Tiantong bus station (公交天童站) the bus ride will... More
