Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well I went strolling down to Tianfu Square on a friend’s recommendation and it turned out to be a great place. It depicts the local culture and the great architecture built in one place. The statute of the great Chinese leader and the shops / food outlets all around it present an amazing opportunity for the tourists. Must visit for shoppers and wanderers.

All lit up at night and full of people when we were there (but it was Golden Week in October). Much better things to see elsewhere in Chengdu.

Liyuan tea house is at the basement of Tianfu square in the centre of Chengdu.
Tea with light snacks and cultural shows happen nightly at 8pm , starts from 118 Yuans for normal seats.
The show lasts for one hour something and since the area is tiny you can enjoy the performance extremely close to the stage.
It's location is right at the entrance to metro.

Large open space where people walk in leisures. On the map, Tianfu Square is literarily the center of Chengdu city relative to the rings of the circular highways. From the street level, you can go downstairs to the subway station, the mall, and plenty of eateries. On north of the square is Sichuan Science and Technology Museum, with a large statue of Mao Zedong at the front of the building. On the west is Chengdu Museum New Building, which is a great museum depicting the history of Chengdu; you are welcomed to read my review on the Chengdu Museum.

Nice scenery to see this landmark with a big Mao Ze Dong statue on the front. Good to take picture. There is subway station and shopping centers downstair. Not much to do other than for taking pictures.

Lots of locals like to chill at this big square at night. Families bring their kids and dogs. Vendors sell kites and other twirly flying toys. Elderly friends set up tables and chairs to play cards. The lights from the main statue and the high rises nearby are really picturesque, as is the giant statue of Mao across the road. Overall, this is a nice, relaxing area to walk through and take in the atmosphere.

Lots of local Chengdu folks as well as tourists (Chinese and otherwise) hanging out here, especially in the below ground food/shopping area. Didn't sample any of the cafes, but they seemed very popular. Also a major metro exchange. It's all lit up and festive at night. Police/security quite visible too. Sichuan Museum is next door with free admission, unfortunately didn't have time to go there. Not as big and overwhelming as Tiananmen in Beijing, but similar in concept in the center of city, definitely worth a quick visit.

For me this is the main center of Chengdu where under this Tianfu Square is the Tianfu Suare metro station for lane 1 and lane 2. There also an underground mall with the metro station
At the surface of this Tianfu Square is open park. Near of this area on the north is Sichuan Science and Technology Museum , Chengdu Museum on the west and behind of this museum is Imperial Mosque (Chengdu Huangcheng Mosque) at this area have few halal restaurants and on friday there will be halal street food for muslim during friday prayer till evening.

I've been here a load of times, and it's always had something different to offer.
Lately there's been a big pollution problem in Chengdu, and there were actually protests here.
The local gov't shut that down after the first day, and the metro entrances at the square were actually closed down, forcing you to walk to the exits much further down the street. Inconvenient!
Make sure to visit at night to appreciate the night lights from the surrounding buildings, and take in the happy, relaxed Sichuan ambiance!
(Pollution tends to be worse from the beginning of December up until Chinese new year, but should be fine during the other months)
