Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not really much to say, it’s a wall with 9 dragons ceramic on it. The wall is not original, the dragons appear to be. It’s free admission, in a nice little park, there are washrooms and a little gift shop. The Shanhua Monastery down the road has an almost identical wall with 5 dragons on it.

Go have a look, get some photos and then 10 minutes later go see something else.

I feel you can find this place almost in every place. You can stay or only to have quick 15 minutes visit. This time was free of charge. Walking distance inside city wall Datong.

This is a place you stop by if you are in the area (then I will recommend it), but not worth a long drive if Chinese Dragons and their history are not important to you.

This is an important Chinese historical place (if I remember right one of three important dragon walls). The dragons her are made for a prince and therefore the feet sand body are different than the dragons protecting the Emprior.

The location is however not that well preserved and great.

Within the old Datong city you can easily pass by this one if you're not careful. No need to pay anything because the 9 dragon wall is on the side walk. This attraction is great if you're exploring the old city.

This glazed screen is a fine early Ming artifact: a 45 metre long piece of tilework, some 600 years old. Anyone wandering through old Datong would be well-advised to stop by and admire its swirling dragons, with fireballs surging between them. On the other hand, it is just a single wall, and quarter of an hour is all it takes to have a good look over this unusual structure.

We had a hard time finding the place since the tourist map shows its location wrong.
The wall is impressive. Look at the details of the 9 Dragons themselves, the beautiful design the size of this wall – It is about 600 years old and in perfect shape.
Keep in mind that 10 to 15 minutes is the most you going to spent there. There is no need for a guide to see the place (and we did not pay any entrance fee). If you are staying at the old city, it is just a short walk (same as ALL the other locations within the old city).

The screen itself has tons of history but there's nothing much else around it. It's a nice pit-stop but def. not a major attraction. If you don't have time, would skip it.

You can easily reach this site from the city centre o Datong , I took the public bus 4 from Datong Railway Station to Nine Dragon Wall. It's open from 9.00 am to 5 pm. The price of the entry ticket is incredibly cheap, like 15 CNY. The screen is one of the three famous walls of this style in China, although this one is the oldest and the largest. Colorful paint has been applied to the carvings to bring the dragons to life vividly, as they would have been over 600 years ago. If you are interested in the Chinese Art, this is one of the things you should see once you'll be in China.

Like what the title says. It's literally just a wall. Unless you're really into walls/ancient Chinese culture, then this place will be OK i guess.
If you want to give this wall a visit anyway, it's located in the city so it's quite accessible. There's a Chinese restaurant within walking distance from the wall as well.
