The vendors in this alley sold food items that were interesting to look at, but I didn't have the courage to try. So I have no idea what fried scorpions or worms or sea horses or lizards taste like. I did, however, enjoy going to the little shops that sold trinkets and items made of shells and pocket watches and... More

After visiting St. Michael's Cathedral, we wandered into the interesting narrow streets and courtyard restaurants. I can say this is “Eat Street”, all kinds of food; you name it, and they have it, such as scorpions and silkworms larvae and some I don’t even know. I didn’t had the courage to try the food there, but what I liked most... More

This street market is exactly what you are looking for if you have an adventurous pallet. You can find all types of cool foods here. From scorpions to sea urchin to octopus tentacles the size of your arm. Very authentic China, and then prices weren't bad. Negotiating wasn't really necessary here, so enjoy and chose what you like. They also... More

Just a couple of small alleyways teeming with colourful street stalls selling weird and wonderful foodstuffs. The speciality seemed to be squid on a stick. It was covered in a sweet spicy sauce and was delicious. We passed on the scorpions and insects though and opted for some delicious steamed buns instead. Well worth a visit!

Most food stalls offer the same stuff. I guess the most interesting one was the one with scorpions and kinds of larvae or what ever those things were. People tend to crowd around that stall you probably won't miss it. We had lunch in one of those inner court yard restaurant (Jiang Ning Hui Guan 江宁会馆)which was quite good. There... More

Wonderful hideaway of delicious street snack foods and cool old buildings. Also located in the old German part of Qingdao so many other attractions not far away. Definitely worth an afternoon.

A must place to go to see the old QIngdao. Great snack food, and beer along the fantastic sidestreets. Make sure you check out the small sidestreets to check out the snack shops and bar, some are pretty unique. The food is fantastic, especially the fresh seafood. And it is a great atmosphere sitting outside enjoying the food with fresh... More

If you want to try some local snacks / specialties then this is a good place to do it. Some opera / shows also held at lunch and dinner time. Good place to just wander down the little alleys and have a nosey around. Good to end up for lunch here after a morning walking around the Badaguan area and... More

Pichai Yuan (Pichai Courtyard) 劈柴院 is a treasure cove of old Chinese culture. It is located at Zhongshan Lu, Shinan District, Qingdao (青岛市市南区中山路), one km northeast of Qingdao Railroad Station, in old town. Here you can sample some of the more unusual foods, do a little shopping of very memorable souvenirs, enjoy tea served from a very long beaked water... More
